  • Publication number: 20110024353
Abstract: A proposed blood treatment apparatus includes: a blood treatment unit, a pair of fluid pumps and a pair blood pumps. The blood treatment unit is configured to receive untreated blood and fresh blood treatment fluid, and emit treated blood and used blood treatment fluid. The fluid pumps are configured to pass blood treatment fluid through the blood treatment unit. The blood pumps are configured to extract untreated blood from a blood source, pass extracted blood through the blood treatment unit and deliver treated blood to a target vessel. Additionally, the fluid pumps are configured to control the operation of the blood pumps via the blood treatment fluid. Moreover, a flow control device is configured to control a trans-membrane flow between the blood side and the a fluid side of the blood treatment unit. Hence, for instance ultrafiltration can be adjusted to a desired level in a very straightforward manner.

  • Publication number: 20100186518
Abstract: A pressure sensing device adapted for having a liquid flowing there through and for sensing the pressure of said liquid. The device has a casing being fluid-tightly divided into a first and a second chamber by a flexible, impermeable wall. The first chamber has a first opening for the liquid, said opening being placed at the lower part of the chamber, and a second opening for the liquid, said opening being placed at the top of the first chamber. The second chamber has a measuring port, which is connectable to a pressure transducer for bringing the second chamber into gas-tight communication with the pressure transducer. The device has a first orifice to permit the liquid to flow into and out of the device, the orifice being placed at the upper part of the device at a higher level than the second opening. A first channel is connecting the first orifice with the first opening.

  • Patent number: 7727220
Abstract: The invention refers to a medical system comprising a first subsystem with a first connection portion (7), and a second subsystem with a second connection portion (12). The invention also refers to a device and a method for connecting the subsystems to each other. One of the subsystems contains a fluid. The connecting device is adapted to connect the subsystems to each other to permit transport of the fluid from one of the subsystems to the other subsystem. The device comprises a container (21) enclosing an inner space. A substantially sterile atmosphere is provided in the inner space. The container receives the first connection portion and the second connection portion in the inner space. A mechanism is provided for connecting, from outside the container, the first connection portion and the second connection portion to each other in the inner space.

  • Patent number: 7611493
Abstract: A device for preventing axial movement of an elongated member (1) applied through the skin of a mammal at a puncturing position has a plaster (2) designed to cover the surface around the puncturing position and having at least an adhesive layer (4) for securing it to the skin as well as an opening (9) through the layer thereof for the passage of said elongated member therethrough. The device also has a clamp (8) secured to plaster and adapted to clamp around the elongated member when the elongated member is applied to the skin and the plaster is applied on the surface around said puncturing position. The clamp is thin and substantially flat.

  • Patent number: 6719068
Abstract: Geological probing device comprising a hollow probing rod to be extended into the geological matter to be probed, and a measuring probe fitted to the probing rod, said measuring probe comprising sensors for obtaining information about the matter. The measuring probe further comprises a microwave transmitter, arranged to transmit microwaves carrying data from said sensors, said hollow probing rod being adapted to act as a waveguide, guiding the microwaves to an upper orifice of said hollow probing rod. Compared to previously known techniques, the device according to the invention offers a reliable transmission of data under normal working conditions, and without substantive modifications of the probing rod or other equipment.
