  • Publication number: 20020000336
Abstract: A rotary cone drill bit includes at least one leg carrying a journal provided with bearing surfaces cooperating via bearing elements with bearing races in a rotatable cone cutter. The cone cutter is provided with rows of crushing elements. Each crushing element has a greatest width (D) and a greatest height (H), wherein HID<1.2. The crushing elements are welded to the body of the cone cutter to form a metallurgical bond therewith.

  • Patent number: 6250407
Abstract: A rotary drill bit includes a rotary cutter rotatably mounted on a leg. A radial bearing arrangement and an axial bearing arrangement are provided in an interface between the cutter and the leg. The leg includes a filling opening for enabling cylindrical rolling elements of the radial bearing arrangement to be installed. The cutter includes a radial flange which radially overlaps the radial bearing arrangement to secure the cutter on the leg. The flange, which is disposed axially behind the radial bearing arrangement and axially in front of the filling opening, includes a recess for accommodating the passage of the cylindrical rolling elements. A locking element is disposed in the filling opening for preventing dislodgement of the cylindrical rolling elements. The locking element includes a lip which projects axially forwardly of the radial bearing arrangement. The lip is disposed radially inwardly of the flange and terminates axially behind the radial bearing arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6145605
Abstract: A rotary rock drill bit includes a bit body and three conical roller cutters rotatably mounted thereon. Each roller cutter has at least first, second, and third circumferential rows of buttons spaced apart in the direction of rotation of the roller cutter. The three rows of buttons are arranged successively from a rear end toward a front end of the roller cutter. The buttons of each of the first and second rows have lengths of attack which are longer in a direction of rotation of the roller cutter than in a direction perpendicular thereto. Those longer lengths of attack are also longer than a length of attack of the buttons of the third row in the rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 5975223
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rock drill bit for rotary crushing machining of rock. The rock drill bit includes legs (10), each of which carry a journal (11) provided with bearing surfaces (27, 28, 34) cooperating via bearing elements with bearing races in a rotatable roller provided with inserts or chisels. Each leg is made from a parent material with substantially homogeneous hardness and each leg comprises a leg tail (30) provided to resist entrance of drill cuttings into the bearings. The bearing surfaces (27, 28, 34) have higher wear resistance than the parent material and the leg tail (30) is at least partly of the same material condition as the bearing surfaces. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing a rock drill bit.

  • Patent number: 5664803
Abstract: A gas generator includes a bottle containing compressed gas and an outlet passage through which the gas may leave the bottle; a housing supported within the bottle and having a side wall defining an inner housing space communicating with the outlet passage; a movable element disposed in the housing and being displaceable between an initial position and an advanced position; an externally actuatable triggering mechanism positioned in the housing for propelling the movable element from the initial position into the advanced position; an aperture provided in the side wall of the housing for establishing communication between an inner bottle space and the outlet passage; a sealing disc secured to the side wall and obturating the aperture for preventing communication between the inner bottle space and the outlet passage. The sealing disc has a surface flush with an inner face of the side wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5582425
Abstract: A gas supply device for supplying gas to an air-bag comprises a bottle containing compressed gas. The bottle is provided with a valve mechanism which operates to pen in a controlled way a flow passage for the compressed gas. The valve mechanism operates in response to a change in pressure in a region within the bottle. The valve mechanism comprises two valve members each with a tubular portion terminating with an inwardly turned lip directed towards a tubular member. The valve members are initially retained by frangible solder sports until a predetermined change of pressure has occurred in the region. The flow passage is defined between the free end of the lip and the exterior of the tubular member. Various grooves or depressions are provided in the outer surface of the tubular member so that the flow passage area for gas increases gradually as the valve is opened. Each tubular portion carries a portion extending across the interior of the bottle to define the region.

  • Patent number: 4784836
Abstract: Each of a pair of heat exchangers in a combustion plant includes a storage space holding basic granules, and will alternatingly be flown through by combustion gas and air, respectively. Residual heat from the combustion gas will be absorbed by the granules, and the moisture contend of the gases will condense upon the granules. Sulphur dioxide in the combustion gas will react with the basic material to calcium sulphite, and the moist granules will catch ash particles and other cntaminants in the gas. When valves have been re-set, air is made to pass through the granules, whereby it will be preheated. The heated air may be conducted to a burner, to a regeneration apparatus for the granules, or through a conduit to the gas exhaust duct. After some time of operation the granules are transferred to the regeneration apparatus, which includes a rotatable drum, where the granules will be subjected to mechanical working and separation of calcium sulphate and dust particles, preferably while being heated.
