  • Patent number: 6918766
Abstract: In connection with implants for bone or tissue, delivery of bioactive substances to the bone or tissue is ensured. The implant is designed with an internal space, and one or more bodies comprising the bioactive substance are designed to cooperate with the bone and/or tissue structure surrounding the implant and to release the bioactive substance to the said structure. The said body or bodies is/are applied in the space in order thereby to be exposed to the surrounding structure and deliver the bioactive substrate or substances to the latter.

  • Patent number: 5873720
Abstract: A spacing member for a securing element (fixture) permanently anchored in the jawbone. The spacing member comprises a substantially sleeve-shaped spacing element to be fitted on the securing element and a separate spacing screw. The spacing screw has an elongate, unthreaded middle portion and a threaded portion at its tip for engaging with an internally threaded bore in an upper part of the securing element. The sleeve-shaped spacing element includes a passage extending longitudinally therethrough for receiving the spacing screw. The passage has an internally threaded portion for engaging with the spacing screw, so that the spacing screw, after it has been threaded through the threaded portion, is joined together with the spacing element, and a recess in an upper part of the passage.

  • Patent number: 5098293
Abstract: In connection with implant work on the dentine, a machining instrument is used which is provided with an attachment part for attachment to a rotary unit or for attachment to extension unit, which in turn can be applied to the rotary unit. The extension unit has a thickened central section which is provided with a recess or opening in which an inclined surface is arranged. In the applied position of a machining instrument, one surface of its attachment part is set against the inclined surface of the extension unit. The extension unit and the machining instrument are rotationally-fixed with respect to each other. Moreover, a locking effect is achieved between the extension unit and the machining instrument as a result of a secure wedging effect obtained by means of the inclined surface.

  • Patent number: 5064425
Abstract: An elongate cylindrical body member is adapted for permanent anchoring of its lower end into bone tissue and constructed to support an attached device such as a tooth at its upper end. The body member has an external screw thread formed in its outer surface, and at least one cavity defined therein adjacent its bottom end. Each cavity forms at its intersection with the screw thread at least one cutting edge for self-tapping as the body member is screwed into the bone tissue. Such cavity defines a total volume within the outer surface of said body member sufficient to retain all the bone tissue material which is removed as a result of the self-tapping operation.

  • Patent number: 4824372
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an apparatus for the fixation of a single-tooth restoration to an implant in the form of an anchorage element (fixture) permanently anchored in the maxillary, comprising a substantially tubular spacer (4) which is anchored to the anchorage element by means of a spacer screw (5) provided with an externally threaded portion (23) which engages in an internally threaded recess (7) in the upper region of the fixture. The spacer screw (5) is provided with an unthreaded waist (25) whose length exceeds the thread diameter of the spacer screw, and has a screw head (20) of comparatively slight diameter and with a planar or gently conical shoulder which cooperates with a corresponding annular shoulder (19) in the tubular spacer (4). The apparatus is mounted in place by means of a double screwdriver whose one part fits the internal counter-abutment in the spacer sleeve (4) and whose other part is caused to engage with the driver slot (24) of the screw head.
