Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network node for indicating the IMS services and IMS applications to which a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message relates. An IMS communication service identifier and an IMS application reference are added to the SIP message. The identifier and the reference may be added as Feature Tags. The reference may also be added as an a-line augmenting an m-line in a Session Description Protocol (SDP) part of the SIP message.

Abstract: According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of operating an XML Document Management Server in an IP Multimedia Subsystem. The method comprises receiving a message from a user terminal requesting an XML document, the XML document conforming to a given structure and containing one or more service rules relating to a service, retrieving an XML document containing said service rules from a data storage entity. If the structure of the retrieved XML document differs from said given structure, adapting a rule or rules of the retrieved XML document such that the XML document conforms to said given structure, and sending the adapted XML document to the user terminal.

Abstract: A flexible technique for registering in an IMS domain (100) of a telecommunications network a non-IMS user device (110) of a user is proposed, wherein a registration control node (104) receives a notification of an event related to a network registration of a second user device (108) of the user in the network and the registration control node initiates, based on the notification, a transaction related to an IMS registration of the non-IMS user device in the IMS domain.

Abstract: A method and node in a communication network for facilitating access by a client terminal to an IMS service from a non-Session Initiation Protocol (non-SIP) compliant access network such as a circuit-switched network. The node receives a request from the client terminal and in response, allocates to the terminal, a Terminal Adapter from a plurality of Terminal Adapters. The node then sends a message to the client terminal reporting the address of the allocated Terminal Adapter.

Abstract: A technique for interconnecting circuit-switched (CS) and packet-switched (PS) domains enables network components (302) having a PS network access to make use of CS telephony services. A method embodiment of this technique comprises the steps of receiving PS control information according to a PS control protocol such as SIP, determining, in response to receipt of the PS control information, CS control information according to a CS control protocol such as DTAP, and sending the determined CS control information to a second network component (324) that is located on an application (or service) layer for provision of CS services, based on the determined CS control information, to the first network component (302).

Abstract: Narrowband based telephony services and associated value added services are provided transparently in a network providing ATM switching and no STM switching is required in an ATM network (625) to which units (601, 603) requiring such services are connected. This is obtained by means of, when a call enters the ATM network (625), first finding the output port (619) from the ATM network (625), then returning the address of that port to the entry port (617) and thereafter ATM switch the connection directly through the ATM network (625). Hereby bandwidth resources are more efficiently used since all switching is done by ATM regardless of application. Heavy investments in providing intelligent services support by existing systems can be reused in an efficient way and thus reduce time to market for the introduction of the value added services.
