  • Patent number: 7854477
Abstract: A seat back support mechanism supports the back of a seat in a motor vehicle. One component of the mechanism (15) is effectively connected to the seat of the motor vehicle and another component (32) is connected to the back (44) of the motor vehicle optionally by means of a recliner mechanism. The support mechanism comprises a connection between the components. The connection comprises two pivot links (27,33). One pivot link (33) is of arcuate form with a central “V” notch so that when the back of the seat is subjected to a predetermined force, the back of the seat is permitted about a pivot axis (30) while the arcuate pivot link (33) is deformed, thus absorbing energy.

  • Patent number: 7588289
Abstract: A vehicle seat 1 comprises a squab (2) and a backrest (3). The headrest (4) is carried by the backrest. The headrest 4 is provided with a mechanism (7) to move the headrest forwardly in the event that an impact should occur. A locking mechanism (9) is provided to lock the headrest to prevent forward movement of the headrest in response to a predetermined signal. The signal may be generated in response to a rear impact in excess of a predetermined severity.

  • Patent number: 7344190
Abstract: A vehicle seat is provided with a squab, backrest and a headrest. The headrest is supported by one or more support elements. Each support element is connected by a connection to a respective drive element which is connected to a pressure plate located within the backrest. The drive element is guided for rearward movement by a guide which is formed fast with the frame of the seat. A pivot surface is provided located adjacent the support element such that, on rearward movement of the drive element, the support element engages the pivot surface to cause the headrest to move forwardly in a pivotal manner.

  • Patent number: 6588823
Abstract: A seat for a motor vehicle comprises a squab carried by a frame (31) and a back (54). The squab (31) is mounted for movement along a rail (21, 22, 23) from an operative position to a stored position remote from the operative position. The seat back (54) is pivotally mounted for movement from an operative position to a stored position. Part of the seat-back, when in the stored position, occupies space that was occupied by the squab of the seat when the squab of the seat was in the operative position. The seat may be mounted in a motor vehicle in such a way that part (55) of the back of the seat, when in the stored position, is substantially flush with part of the floor (53) of the motor vehicle to provide a load carrying platform.

  • Patent number: 6503032
Abstract: A keyway is cut in a shaft by means of a cutting unit moved along a guideway on a base that is clamped on the shaft. The cutting unit has a milling head that is slimmer than the desired keyway. The keyway is cut in more than one sweep and the transverse position of the cutting unit is adjusted between the sweeps. In this way, narrow and wide keyways can be cut with the same precision and with one and the same comparatively small machine.
