  • Patent number: 4512356
Abstract: An exhaust air valve for placement in a ventilation conduit through which air is exhausted from a space to be ventilated. The valve has a casing with a concave seat surface facing upstream of the flow through the conduit and having a central valve orifice. A convex valve element cooperates with the seat surface and when the valve is closed engages the seat surface along a line of contact surrounding the seat. The curvature of the respective surfaces is the same, at least along the line of contact to ensure a tight closure of the orifice by the valve body. When opening, the valve body slides along the curved surface and the upstream surface of the valve body exposed to the flow is also convex to guide the flow toward the center of the orifice. Several embodiments are illustrated including valves with cords for remotely controlling the valve and heat-sensitive tripping mechanisms which automatically close the valve in the event of a rise in temperature above a preset level.

  • Patent number: 4482267
Abstract: Apparatus for mounting supply and exhaust air valves or other ventilation elements in ventilation conduits comprising one or several anchor devices which are attached by a base onto the back side of the element. From the base extends a triangular intermediate section. One triangle side borders the base, and a second triangle side borders an outward extending wing with circumferential orientation relative to an opening in which the element is to be fastened. The wing is divided by slots into tongues, and the free ends of the tongues are pointed and bent outward in direction toward the walls of the opening. Different configurations of the anchor devices are shown.

  • Patent number: 4320695
Abstract: An air diffuser for spreading and feeding out an exact amount of conditioned air, comprising an inlet 3 and a stationary hood part 6 connected thereto cooperating with an adjustable hood part 7 for variation of a spreading or feeding gap for the conditioned air. A spring 14 is provided between both hood parts, which are kept at a selected spacing by means of an adjusting screw. Said screw extends through the adjustable hood part via an opening with large allowance, so that the adjustable hood part can be tilted such, that a certain enlargement of the spreading gap on the one side is corresponded proportionally by a corresponding diminution on the diagonally-opposite side. Adjusting the screw changes the total flow through the gap. Tilting the hood part changes the distribution of the air without changing the total flow.

  • Patent number: 4109564
Abstract: A ventilation element for mounting in a partition opening having a tubular connector having an open end for admitting air to a room, a cover for regulating the quantity and direction of incoming air, and a tubular diffuser which telescopically engages the connector and mounts the cover for adjustment toward and away from the open end of the connector. The diffuser has a cylindrical wall extending less than 360.degree. to provide a radial inlet opening between the connector and the cover. The diffuser wall is engaged with the connector by fasteners and oblique slots which effect axial movement of the diffuser when it is rotated relative to the connector whereby the diffuser may be adjusted axially relative to the connector, and the connector and diffuser together may be adjusted circumferentially in the partition opening.

  • Patent number: 4078476
Abstract: An air inlet valve having a tubular connector having an open end for admitting air to a room, a cover for regulating the quantity and direction of incoming air, and a tubular guide which telescopically engages the connector and mounts the cover for adjustment toward and away from the open end. The guide has a cylindrical wall extending less than 360.degree. to provide a radial inlet opening between the connector and the cover. The guide is frictionally engaged with the connector by a T-shaped leaf-spring. The spring is held against sideways movement by having its upright slidable in the guide and held against vertical movement by having its cross bar anchored in the connector, whereby the guide may be adjusted both circumferentially and axially relative to the connector.

  • Patent number: 3987713
Abstract: A low-noise nozzle system for receiving an air flow from a relatively low-velocity, high-volume air source and for producing therefrom a high-velocity, low-volume jet of air for delivery into a room to control the distribution of air in the room. The nozzle inner walls first extend along a straight axis into the room, then bend gradually at right angles to feed an outlet aperture which injects the jet into the room at right angles to the axis. The aperture is in a plane parallel to said straight axis and elongated at right angles to said axis; low-noise delivery of the jet into the room is accomplished by special proportioning of the radii of the nozzle inner walls at the bend in relation to the size of the inlet to the nozzle, and of the size of the outlet aperture relative to the size of said nozzle inlet.
