The spiral ridges form channels between the ridges. On the surface of the channels near the bottom of the screw bit, a set of teeth is present. On the spiral ridges themselves, there is also another set of teeth. The width of the channels becomes increasing wider towards the bottom of the screw bit. The distance between the spiral ridges is larger at the bottom of the screw bit than the distance between the ridges at the top of the screw bit.
