Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system and computer program product for end-user service provider selection in a network supporting one or more service providers connected to the network, including prompting an end-user for end-user information including a geographic location of the user; determining based on the end-user information whether the network provides service in the geographic location; displaying to the end-user a list of one or more service providers available to the end-user and supported by the network; providing means for contacting the one or more service providers available to the end-user; receiving service information from a service provider selected by the end-user from the list of the one or more service providers based on the means for contacting the one or more service providers; and providing service via the selected service provider on the network to the end-user based on the received service information.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system and computer program product for an irrevocable right to use (IRU) registration process in a network supporting one or more IRU service providers connected to the network, including performing one of the following sets of steps: (a) performing an end-user login process for a modem communicating on an upstream frequency corresponding to the network, storing an address of the modem and reporting the modem address to an IRU service provider which is to provide IRU service to the modem; and (b) redirecting a modem, communicating on an upstream frequency corresponding to an IRU service provider which is to provide IRU service to the modem, to an end-user login process for the network, storing an address of the modem and reporting the modem address to the IRU service provider.

Abstract: A system and method for conducting a voice communication through a hybrid network which includes a packet internetwork, such as the Internet, connected to a circuit switched telephone network. The packet internetwork is connected to the switched telephone network through a static filter device, a packet switch, and a telephone network controlled gateway. A control processor is connected to the packet switch and to the filter device. The filter device generates a real time copy of call set up signaling dialog between the party requesting connection and the gateway which passes through or to the filter device. This duplicate of set up signaling is delivered from the filter device through the packet switch to the control processor. The control processor generates therefrom a filter device control signal which specifies the filter parameters derived from the set-up signaling dialog.
