  • Patent number: 5556279
Abstract: A cartridge system for purifying water supplied to a dental unit and dynamic dental instrument has at least one disposable cartridge element having an activated charcoal resin and an iodinated anionic exchange resin containing a continuous fixed-rate release iodinated resin I.sub.(n). Iodine is released from the iodinated resin at a specified and consistent rate as water passes through the resin to maintain dental unit water purity. The activated charcoal resin functions to remove chlorine from incoming water to prevent chlorine reaction with iodine. The cartridge is installed in the water supply tubing at the point of connection to a water supply system. Tubing having inner surfaces passivated with iodine is connected to the downstream end of the cartridge. The cartridge is the principal water purification source and reinforces an existing water purification system.

  • Patent number: 5370534
Abstract: A dual cartridge system for purifying water supplied to a dental unit and dynamic dental instrument has two disposable elements, each having an iodinated anionic exchange resin containing a continuous fixed-rate release iodinated resin I.sub.(n). Iodine is released from the resin at a specified and consistent rate as water passes through the resin to maintain dental water purity. One cartridge is located in the dental unit water supply tubing. A second cartridge is located in the water supply tubing adjacent the connection to the water supply system. The iodinated biocidal resin in each cartridge neutralizes and kills disease-causing bacteria, virus, protozoa, aspirated oral flora and prevents microbial back-growth to eliminate cross-infection between dental patients.

  • Patent number: 5230624
Abstract: A system for purifying water supplied to a dynamic dental instrument has a disposable element having an iodinated resin containing a polyiodide, I.sub.5. Disease causing microorganisms in water flowing through the element are neutralized with neutralizing agents released directly into the microorganisms when the microorganisms come into contact with the resin. Residual iodine is released as water passes through the resin and remains between the element and the dynamic instrument to maintain dental unit water purity.

  • Patent number: 4497334
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning a liquid delivery system, comprising a container having an open top, a control housing removably closing the top of the container and having a supply conduit extending to the bottom of the container, an inlet connection for connecting the housing to a source of air under pressure, an outlet connection for connecting the housing to a liquid delivery system, and valving mechanism in the housing, including first and second valves actuable between normal positions and operated positions, and a conduit inter-connecting the valves, the first valve having a normally closed position and an operated position in which the source is connected to the conduit inter-connecting the valves, and the second valve having a normal position in which the inter-connecting conduit is connected to the outlet connection, and an operated position, in which the supply conduit is connected to the outlet connection.

  • Patent number: 4013328
Abstract: A dental treatment environment having dental equipment coordinated relative to a reclining patient chair in a manner to provide minimum doctor time and motion and maximum efficiency. The chair has a patient headrest located adjacent a cabinet. An articulated first arm adjustable vertically and horizontally is movably mounted on the cabinet. The arm carries a tray useable for dental hand instruments and slow speed hand piece. An extendible and contractible second arm which moves up, down, side to side is attached to an upright support and has connected at its outer end a holder for dental high speed air turbines and air-water syringe. Both the tray and holder are movable to locations relative to the headrest whereby the transfer zone between tray and holder and patient is of minimum area. An operating light unit and its holding members are mounted on top of the support. A doctor's sink cabinet is located adjacent the doctor's side of the chair.
