Patent number: 4792063Abstract: A follower plate assembly for dispensing hot melt material from a drum-like container including a bottom plate which is heated, a top plate spaced from the bottom plate, and a cylindrical member positioned between the top and bottom plates. The cylindrical member includes seals which engage the inside wall of the container from which material is to be dispensed. A plurality of metallic slip rings serve to seal the interface between the bottom plate and the cylindrical member.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1987Date of Patent: December 20, 1988Assignee: Industrial Machine Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: Leo M. Patent number: 4355734Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing material from a container comprising a plate having an aperture therein through which material is caused to flow out of the container when the plate is caused to move vertically within the container. A scraper member is spaced from and coupled to such plate to engage the inside walls of such container to scrape material from the walls as the plate moves vertically relative to the container. A space is formed between the scraper member and the plate to form a cavity which communicates with the aperture and which includes a material entering opening, the level of material in the cavity being controlled during operation of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1980Date of Patent: October 26, 1982Inventor: Leo M. Moore

Patent number: 4344547Abstract: An integrally fabricated heater follower plate primarily for use with hot melt dispensing apparatus is disclosed. The heater follower plate is fabricated from a solid circular disk of heat conducting material. The disk is machined to form a plurality of fins across the bottom face of the disk. A hole is cut through the center of the disk and a plurality of holes are cut into the top face of the disk. A separate cartridge-type heating element is placed into each one of the holes cut into the top face of the disk.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Inventor: Leo M. Patent number: 4270674Abstract: This invention relates to integral heater follower plates designed primarily for use with hot melt dispensing apparatus. Two basic embodiments, with several variations of each of the two basic embodiments, are disclosed. The first of the two basic embodiments of the integral heater follower plate comprises a follower plate shaped to fit inside a container in which hot melt material is stored and at least one spiral heater is embedded in one surface of the follower plate. The second of the two basic embodiments of the integral heater follower plate of this invention comprises a follower plate shaped to fit inside a container in which the hot melt material is stored and a plurality of cartridge heaters housed in holes cut in the follower plate. In addition to the combination heater follower plate, optional fins that may be used with the combination heater follower plates of this invention are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1979Date of Patent: June 2, 1981Assignee: Industrial Machine Service Co., Inc.Inventor: Leo M. Patent number: 3982669Abstract: The apparatus of this invention is designed to dispense material from a container. The container is placed on a base of the apparatus between a pair of hydraulically or pneumatically operated telescoping rods that are secured to the base. A cross bar which bridges the rods is secured to the top end of each rod. This cross bar carries two pump motors and a pair of spaced apart rods. The pair of spaced apart rods are each secured to the cross bar at one end and to a follower plate at the other end. The follower plate is surrounded by wipers and if the material that is to be dispensed must be heated before it can be dispensed, either one of two embodiments of an integrally fabricated combination heater-follower plate with wipers is utilized in place of the follower plate. In addition, optional heat radiating fins may be secured to the bottom of either of the two integrally fabricated combination heater-follower plates, if desired.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1975Date of Patent: September 28, 1976Assignee: Industrial Machine Service CompanyInventor: Leo M.
