  • Patent number: 6726998
Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film having a skin layer made of a blend of a crystalline wax and a non-polar polymer is disclosed. The film has substantially no inorganic fillers and yet shows no visible distortion after exposure to food products such as potato chips.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 29, 2002
Date of Patent: April 27, 2004
    Assignee: Toray Plastics (America), Inc.
Inventors: Tien-Kuei Su, Leo Moreau, Kevin Kitchin
  • Publication number: 20030072957
Abstract: A polyolefin multilayer film containing a polyolefinic core layer and a first polyolefin skin layer of a blend, wherein the first polyolefin skin layer does not contain a thermoplastic or natural rubber and provides a cold seal receptive surface for a cold seal adhesive is disclosed. The blend includes an ethylene propylene random copolymer at 50-90 wt. % of the skin layer and metallocene catalyzed plastomer at 10-50% wt. % of the skin layer, a metallocene catalyzed isotactic polypropylene polymer or a butene propylene copolymer that contains from 5 wt % to 22 wt % of butene.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 15, 2002
    Publication date: April 17, 2003
Inventors: Mark S. Lee, Leo Moreau, Kevin Kitchin
  • Publication number: 20030059597
Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film having a skin layer having oil-absorbing voids is disclosed. The film has substantially a small amount of void-initiating particles in the skin layer and typically no fillers in the core layer. Yet the film shows no visible distortion after exposure to food products such as potato chips.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 5, 2002
    Publication date: March 27, 2003
Inventors: Tien-Kuei Su, Leo Moreau, Kevin Kitchin
  • Publication number: 20030049475
Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer film having a skin layer having oil-absorbing porous particles is disclosed. The film has substantially a small amount of porous particles on a weight basis of the total weight of the film and yet shows substantially no visible distortion after exposure to food products such as potato chips.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 29, 2002
    Publication date: March 13, 2003
Inventors: Tien-Kuei Su, Leo Moreau, Kevin Kitchin
