  • Patent number: 4466189
Abstract: An angle measuring device includes a mechanism rotatable to define an angle to be measured and a rotating scanner for producing a first number of pulses corresponding to the angle to be measured. The first number of pulses is frequency multiplied to a second, higher number of pulses to decrease the magnitude of measured angle per pulse and thereby increase the accuracy of the resulting measurement. The second number of pulses are counted, converted to an angle value and held in a display for convenient reading. Preferably, the rotatable mechanism is a gun-like member with sights for aiming it at a target the angle to which is to be measured and a trigger for actuating the measuring, and at least the gun-like member is gimbal mounted to adapt the device for use as a pelorus on a ship.

  • Patent number: 4323992
Abstract: A depth sounder repeater providing a remote display of the depth of a body of water digitally or by meter movement, a depth alarm, a lost echo signal, and a meter scale expansion for shallow depth display in conjunction with a ship's sonar, display of "alarm depth" while setting. The depth display may be digital or analog and multiple displays are possible as required. The depth sounder repeater includes a signal processor for providing signals initiated with the main ultrasonic pulse transmission from the ship's sonar and terminated with the receipt of the first echo of the corresponding main transmitted pulses. The signal processor signals may then be used to initiate and terminate production of a train of clock pulse signals which are counted to provide a digital depth display, or alternatively the signal processor signal may be integrated in analog meter display apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4292262
Abstract: An illustrative embodiment of the invention provides a technique for applying the deep heat capabilities of microwave energy to the problems of ceramic ware production. A plaster-of-paris mold, filled with "slip" is exposed to microwave energy to produce a "green body" in a few minutes. After excess "slip" is decanted and the "green body" is exposed, the mold is dried through microwave heating, weighed and then brought up to the proper degree of moisture by spraying and weighting. The "green body", moreover, after finishing is further dried through microwave heating.

  • Patent number: 4287706
Abstract: A gang mower assembly for the pulling of push-type reel mowers includes a leading mower mount connectable to a pulling vehicle for movement both laterally and perpendicularly with respect to the pulling direction and two trailing mower mounts each connectable to the leading mower mount for both lateral and perpendicular movement with respect to the pulling direction. Each mower mount is connectable to a push-type reel mower between the reel axis and the ground roller axis and below the wheel axis thereof for exerting a downwardly slanted force in the pulling direction in response to the application of the pulling force.

  • Patent number: 4159550
Abstract: A toilet facility for use in boats, campers, mobile homes, recreational vehicles, land and water cruisers, residences, basement flush up, and the like, is disclosed. The toilet facility utilizes a minimum amount of flush water and includes a modified water closet bowl of the siphon type, a sump tank, a macerator pump means, and a water closet tank. A macerator pump means is coupled in fluid communication between a holding tank or other disposal means and the sump tank. The macerator pump is electrically energized through a control circuit when the flush handle is tripped. The duration of the flush cycle may be controlled by a timing circuit which will automatically shut off the macerator pump. Also, the macerator pump may be shut off by the control circuit sensing that the flush cycle is complete, that is, when the macerator pump is pulling only air therethrough or when the control circuit senses the absence of water at the macerator pump inlet.
