  • Patent number: 10315758
Abstract: A propulsion system comprising independent rotor sub-systems producing a thrust force of a desired magnitude in any desired radial direction from the center of the propulsion system, driven from a single driveshaft that may be fixed in its position in the vehicle. When the propulsion system is fitted, for example, to a single-main-rotor helicopter in place of the convention anti-torque tail rotor, the helicopter is thereby equipped with a propulsion system that can produce yaw, pitch, the anti-torque lateral thrust for stability in hover, aft thrust or drag as well as the direct forward thrust that will enable the helicopter to fly at higher speeds. The propulsion system may also be applied in other aeronautical systems as well as to marine and industrial systems to impart energy into a fluid and thereby induce movement in that fluid.

  • Patent number: 8676511
Abstract: Provided herein are methods of detecting and staging liver fibrosis in an individual with liver disease. Also provided are methods of detecting necroinflammatory activity. Invention methods utilize four serum markers, age, and gender to determine an end value. The end value is compared to a cut-off value, in order to identify significant fibrosis (METAVIR stages F2 to F4), or an absence of advanced fibrosis (stages F3 and F4) or cirrhosis (stage F4). In particular aspects, progression or treatment of liver fibrosis can be monitored by invention methods. The end value is also used to distinguish between no to mild necroinflammatory activity (METAVIR grade A0 to A1) and moderate to severe necroinflammatory activity (grade A2 to A3).

  • Patent number: 7859542
Abstract: A method for synchronizing two of more graphics processing units. The method includes the steps of determining whether the phase of a first timing signal of a first graphics processing unit and the phase of a second timing signal of a second graphics processing unit are synchronized, and adjusting the frequency of the first timing signal to the frequency of the second timing signal if the first timing signal and the second timing signal are not synchronized.

Date of Patent: December 28, 2010
    Assignee: NVIDIA Corporation
Inventors: Ian M. Williams, Dat T. Nguyen, Jeffrey Chandler Doughty, Ralf Biermann, Kenneth Leon Adams, Jr., Andrew B. Ritger, Satish D. Salian, Fred D. Nicklisch

  • Patent number: 4153085
Abstract: A dispensing nozzle for delivering fuel to selective fuel tanks has a control rod which must be displaced longitudinally by a restrictor plate in the fill tube of the fuel tank before the manual lever of the dispensing nozzle is effective to open the flow controlling valve of the dispensing nozzle. Thus, the introduction of one grade of fuel into a tank not having a restrictor plate and requiring a different grade of fuel is prevented.
