  • Publication number: 20060049566
Abstract: Two station vise for manual or hydraulic operation with a quick-change stationary that can be carvable, hard or reversible. the stationary jaw having two precision through holes is placed on expanding pins, located on the top longitudinal rails of the vise body, that precisely position and tighten the stationary block in place. Two movable jaws connected by a tubular drive form an axially adjustable floating assembly. A manually turned tubular drive has an external threaded screw to move simultaneously the first jaw/nut and an internal thread that moves the second jaw/nut, on the opposite side of the stationary. Hydraulically parts are clamped at the two stations with a piston located in the second jaw/nut and connected axially with the first jaw/nut by the tubular drive. A setup-block located at the front jaw/nut keeps both jaws at proper position for loading and unloading of parts. The setup-block also allows for pre-clamping or retention of the part in the rear station before clamping.

  • Publication number: 20060013648
Abstract: Pin lock assemblies are provided for a stationary vise jaw of a double vise two support surfaces of the vise rails. Each pin lock assembly has a pin housing that is threaded into a first bore in the respective vise rail, and which seats in a known position. Each pin housing has an outer end with a pair of oppositely facing generally conical surfaces, one of which mates with a conical surface at an outer end of the aligned first bore in the vise rail, and the other of which is an outer cone surface extends above the vise rail support surface. A slotted expanding sleeve is mounted over the outer end of the respective housing and has a mating, inwardly tapered interior cone surface to mate with the outer cone surface of the housing. Each pin lock assembly further includes a separate cone end collar that acts against a cone surface at an outer end of the slotted sleeve to cause the slotted sleeve to expand.

  • Publication number: 20050281631
Abstract: A locking pin system for clamping a fixture plate onto a receiver plate using locating pins that pass into aligning bores on both the fixture plate and the receiver plate. Each locating pin has a cylindrical body with a flange or head on one end and a cone surface at the other end. An axially slotted sleeve with two internal cones is provided in the bore of the receiver plate. A screw with a cone nut is passed through the locating pin so that the nut is on the opposite end of the slotted sleeve from the locating pin. When the cap screw is tightened, one end of the slotted sleeve engages a cone on the pin and the other end of the slotted sleeve is engaged by a cone surface on the nut, to expand as it moves in direction toward the flange and lock the slotted sleeve in place in the bores of the receiver plate. The flanges or heads of the locating pins engage the outer surface of the fixture plate and as the cap screw is tightened, the flanges or head will force the fixture plate against the receiver plate.
