Abstract: An aerodynamic wing apparatus for use with a boat to reduce drag on the hull of a boat by lifting the boat partially out of the water. The wing is movable fore and aft so that it may be positioned near the center of gravity of the boat as the center of gravity changes depending upon the loading of the boat. The wing has variable pitch to provide for a relatively constant amount of lift over a range of boat speeds.

Abstract: An assembly for severing tubular piling used to support offshore platforms comprising a support or frame secured adjacent the open, upper end of the piling, a cutting string suspended from the support and comprised of a pipe string, a centralizer and an internal pipe cutter and a power swivel to rotate the cutting string to effect internal severing of the piling.

Abstract: A crane or derrick for use on an offshore platform comprising a base, a boom operatively connected to the base, and a sectioned kingpole secured to said base, the kingpole including a first kingpole section secured to the base and at least one additional kingpole section removably secured to the first kingpole section. The sectioned kingpole permits the installation of a crane having a tall kingpole and thereby greater lifting capacity such that equipment necessary to carry out operations such as the driving of conductor pipe and piling can be erected on the deck of the platform without the necessity for utilizing a derrick barge.

Abstract: A clamping apparatus for securing a structural member to an offshore platform of the type having generally horizontally extending, fixed framework beams, the apparatus including an engagement assembly for engaging the structural member to be secured, a releasable gripping assembly for releasably gripping at least one of the framework beams, the structural member being secured being positioned between the engagement assembly and the framework beam and a connecting assembly interconnecting the gripping assembly and the engagement member, the connecting assembly being operative to urge the engagement assembly toward the gripping assembly to thereby clamp the structural member between the framework beam and the engagement assembly.

Abstract: An Angulating Knuckle Lead installed within an offshore pile driving rig having both upper and lower hydraulically actuated supporting kickers, independently operable for driving pile on extreme slope or batter and which is movable upwardly and downwardly through an opening in the upper deck of the rig toward the lower deck.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for driving conductor pipe in an offshore drilling platform including the steps of mounting a block and tackle on the platform and then lifting a crane onto the platform with it before the drill rig is placed thereon, and driving the conductor pipe through use of a pile driver brought onto the platform with the crane, thus avoiding utilization of either a derrick barge or a drill rig for the conductor pipe driving functions.
