  • Patent number: 8499707
Abstract: A multi-purpose boat has a two angle V hull with a rounded fore-aft profile and slightly convex deck. The hull has steeply angled edge portions and shallowly angled center portions. The edge portions are sufficiently sloped away from vertical to allow the boat to be lifted and not pushed by waves. The rounded fore-aft profile allows the boat to slide over waves, especially during a beach entry. The boat includes a keel having a horizontal base and separating downward from the hull at the fore and aft of the boat to resist yawing. The dry weight of the boat is about 25 pounds with a foam core with a resin coating and the keel is preferably hollow and includes ports to allow water to enter the keel to add about 25 pounds after entering the water. Approximately four inches of freeboard is provided separating riders from cold water and predators.

  • Patent number: 4323032
Abstract: A tank suitable for use as a fish tank having glass bottom and side walls with V-shaped brace members mounted in the bottom of the tank to extend transversely thereacross between opposed ones of the tank's side walls. The V-shaped braces are formed by a pair of planar support members joined together in a watertight seal along their upper disposed edges and are symmetrically constructed about the vertical axis. The planar support members are secured on their ends to the tank opposed side walls to extend upwardly from the tank bottom to a selected height below the tank's designed water surface level but above the water depth at which water pressure in the tank would otherwise break the opposed glass side walls. The V-shaped braces further define voids in the tank bottom suitable for use for decorative purposes and also function to divide the ground or bottom area of the fish tank into separate zones so as to reduce the tendency of fights between dominant fish during mating season.

  • Patent number: 4173229
Abstract: A therapeutic adornment or jewelry object incorporating a solar cell operable to generate a beneficial electrical current flow through the body of a person wearing same. The solar cell is mounted in a housing effective to electrically insulate the cell itself from a person's body while permitting the transmission of sunlight to the cell's active energy collecting surface. The cell has positive and negative electrical output terminals across which a voltage is generated by the energy collected. The adornment is arranged to mount the cell on a person's body with its active surface exposed to the sun and its terminals electrically connected to spaced apart points on the person's body, whereby a flow of electricity is generated through the person's body between these spaced apart body points. The adornment is illustrated in the forms of a bracelet and necklace.

  • Patent number: 3956785
Abstract: A multipurpose boat has a central cavity formed therein; a lid for closing the cavity; transverse grooves formed in the top surface and aligned grooves formed in the lid, the grooves functioning to strengthen the boat and being curved to discharge water; and elastic cord mechanism associated with the grooves for securing the lid closed. The boat top surface further is strengthened by longitudinal supports secured to its underside. A mast for the boat has a goose neck fitting associated therewith for rotatably mounting a sail carrying boom thereon. A combination of a tiller carrying a cleat device is provided for steering and maneuvering the boat when rigged with a sail. The cleat device defines an outwardly opening V-shaped slot with rope gripping walls for holding a rope set therein. The cleat rearward portion adjacent the slot exit slopes or curves forwardly and downwardly to provide a surface around which a rope inserted in the cleat slot may be pulled to set the rope therein.
