  • Patent number: 5120072
Abstract: A hand truck or dolly for transporting longitudinal objects such as plasterboard, doors, panels, mattresses, or the like. The hand truck has a longitudinal base (10) installed at least on a three wheels arranged in line along the longitudinal axis of base 10. At least two of these wheels (94, 96) have axes of rotation fixed with respect to the base, while at least one wheel (98) is a swivel wheel, the axis of which can be turned in a horizontal plane with respect to the base. A vertical frame (27) is formed of stands (14 and 16) and side braces (19 and 21) and is rigidly attached to one side of the frame, while its other side has a short shoulder 12 for protecting an object (102) being transported from sliding and falling from the hand truck. A distinguishing feature of the hand truck is a kickstand (28) which allows one to place the truck in a self-supporting substantially vertical position.

  • Patent number: 4787663
Abstract: A chopstick holder (10) comprises a rectangular body with a pair of through holes (20, 22) having diameters larger than tip portions of the sticks, but smaller than the top ends of the sticks, so that when the chopsticks are inserted in the holder, they are firmly held in it by friction. The holding portions are linked by a connection portion (32), which is preferably resilient. Another embodiment of the holder includes tapered splines (36, 38) on the inner surfaces of the holes to gouge longitudinal grooves on the chopsticks to prevent the sticks from rotating in the holes. The holes may have round or square cross sections. The holder may be shifted down the sticks to increase operating force.

  • Patent number: 4619398
Abstract: A closer and sealer for gable-topped cartons (10) of the type for holding milk and other pourable liquid and solid foods comprises a device (12) having an upper channel portion (20), a lower arm portion (22) parallel to the channel portion, and a bight portion (24) interconnecting the channel and arm portions. To use the closer after decanting food from the carton, the carton is closed by folding its integral, fold-out pouring spout back in the usual manner and squeezing together and holding the uppermost multi-layered vertical gable flaps (18) of the carton. Then channel portion of the sealer and closer is fit over and slided onto the gable flaps so as to hold them together. The sealer is slided onto the flaps until the bight portion contacts the flaps and limits travel of the sealer. The lower arm portion fits into the gable recess (16) under the flaps to guide the sealer during installation onto the carton.
