  • Patent number: 4657373
Abstract: Electrophotographic copying device provided with an endless photoconductive element, means for forming a powder image on the element and an intermediate support which, under the influence of pressure, is capable of picking up the powder image from the element and then under the influence of pressure and heat, transferring the image to and to fixing it on a copy sheet. Further, the device is provided with cooling means, e.g., blower slots, for cooling that portion of the surface of the intermediate support which has not been in contact with the copy sheet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 12, 1985
Date of Patent: April 14, 1987
    Assignee: Oce-Nederland B.V.
Inventors: Leon M. W. Winthaegen, Georgius H. Schipper
  • Patent number: 4277166
Abstract: Transverse areas lying between image areas of a moving photoconductive element can be discharged efficiently with sharp demarcations between the respective areas by an exposure device in which a flash lamp is disposed perpendicularly between two elongate side walls of a reflective housing having an open side and an elongate light-reflecting rear wall. A protective cover fixed near the lamp at the open side prevents direct radiation of the element from the lamp. Scatter of the reflected light is prevented by partitions fixed in parallel to the side walls in end regions of the housing space.

  • Patent number: 4183658
Abstract: In a copying apparatus of the type employing a moving image-carrying belt from which an image is transferred to an intermediate support during the action of a device for pressing the belt against and advancing it with intermediate support, which is moved at a speed slightly lower than the speed at which the belt is driven, lengths of the belt leading to and from the belt pressing device are engaged by respective floating rollers which apply first and second forces tensioning the belt. The second tensioning force is kept greater than the first, thus acting when the pressing device is inactive to displace upward the belt lead to the pressing device, and an arrest device limits the upward displacement.

Date of Patent: January 15, 1980

  • Patent number: 4086008
Abstract: In an electrophotographic copying apparatus in which an imagewise exposed photoconductive plate moving to a developing station passes a light source and a light shield which are arranged for selectively exposing parts of the photoconductive plate outside the area of the copy image, the light shield is made slightly light transmitting, such as by making it of a glass or plastic having a light transmittance of 2.5 to 25%, so that the light source and shield serve the dual functions of fully exposing nonimage parts of the plate and weakly exposing its image area, thus improving the contrast and tone reproduction in the developed image.
