Abstract: A post includes an elongate ground piercing member having a ground piercing end and an anvil end at which is positioned an anvil. The anvil is positioned within an interior cavity of a housing with the ground piercing member extending through a second end of the housing. Relative movement of the ground piercing member and the housing brings a first hammer into contact with the anvil to drive the ground piercing member into the ground. Relative movement of the ground piercing member and the housing brings a second hammer into contact with the anvil to remove the ground piercing member from the ground. A lock is provided to selectively limit relative movement of the ground piercing member and the housing to prevent the second hammer from contacting the second striking face of the anvil.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for restraining an animal within an animal squeeze. The animal squeeze has a “V” shaped passage in which the animal is suspended by relative movement of the sidewalls and the floor. A pressure member is movable into an operative position engaging a back of the animal and restraining the animal. An animal, such as a deer, suspended in a “V” shaped passage, will normally continue to struggle. However, when pressure is exerted upon the back of the deer by the pressure member, the deer ceases to struggle.

Abstract: A gate closure for a wire gate includes at least two gate engaging members in spaced relation. Levers are provided in spaced relation for each of the at least two gate engaging members. Each of the at least two gate engaging member is pivotally secured to one of the levers. A linkage is provided between the levers whereby the levers are operated in unison to move the at least two gate engaging members between a first position and a second position.

Abstract: An apparatus for restraining ruminant mammals; especially deer. The apparatus includes a "V" shaped open ended chute having opposed sidewalls and a floor. Shoulder pads are secured in opposed relation to the opposed sidewalls adjacent one open end. The shoulder pads engage shoulders of an animal attempting to pass through chute, thereby retarding the animals forward progress. Relative movement of the sidewalls and the floor is effected, thereby suspending the animal in the "V" shaped open ended chute.
