Abstract: A method for improving transportation routing offers better performance and greater control over current methods based on injecting domain specific metrics. What is new is the method starts with optimizing small sub-routes from a comprehensive list of all geographic locations that can be routed. This is similar to geometry node contraction but in this case it contracts sub-routes. Every location pair combination is routed and only the best results are saved. These sub-routes are then queried and combined when a user or system provides a set of locations to be routed. What is also new is that this method uses data configurations specific to a type of transportation to enable the optimization to control performance, data size, and routing flexibility.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and apparatus for providing the exchange of transportation services between separate company entities are provided. Transportation services are received from a communications device. Primary geographical location information of where the service is to be performed is received from the communications device. What is new is that the system automatically combines service data from all companies and analyzes them together to find the most optimized transportation methods. Opportunities to exchange optimized services are transmitted to the communications device. Opportunities, which contain the net profit improvements, are transmitted to the communications device for the company that may provide the service. Opportunities, which contain cost improvements, are transmitted to the communications device for the company the service is being performed for. Agreements for exchanged services are transmitted to the communications device.
