Abstract: The traffic light approach intervening safety system is a safety device that is configured for use in traffic control. The traffic light approach intervening safety system includes a traffic control signal and an emergency vehicle. The traffic light approach intervening safety system establishes a communication link between the traffic control signal and the emergency vehicle that indicates to the traffic control signal that the emergency vehicle is in the vicinity of the traffic control signal. Upon receipt of the indication of the presence of the emergency vehicle, the traffic light approach intervening safety system overrides the normal operation of the traffic control signal with a plurality of visually distinct signals that direct the flow of traffic such that a path is cleared for the passage of the emergency vehicle.
