    Abstract: A vehicle monitoring system is disclosed in which a central control station is provided for the vehicles, for example buses, in the system. Each vehicle is provided with a transit universal microprocessor unit, including a modulator-demodulator, and one or more peripheral devices and a radio communication link is provided between the vehicles and the central control station. Typical peripheral devices are odometers, passenger counters, drive switches and display devices, loudspeakers, etc.
