Abstract: Method and control system for adapting the reproduction speed of a soundtrack to the text reading speed of a user. For this purpose, the moment when the reader reaches a point of reference in the text is recorded; a moment when his or her reading speed is calculated from the time elapsed on reaching the reference point and the data available on the length of text between reference points. When each reference point is passed a soundtrack of the text is reproduced depending on the calculated reading speed, and on prerecorded historical data on reading speed, and by means of shortening or lengthening of pauses, imperceptible for the reader, during the playing of the soundtrack. The text can be in a standard book or can be displayed on a programmed computer.
