  • Patent number: 6199894
Abstract: An extendable truck frame includes extended frame rails and interconnecting members. One end of the extended rails includes a connection that can be received by and secured into the back end of truck frame. In one embodiment, the extended rails can be positioned either at the general level of the truck frame to essentially extend the truck frame in the same general plane as the truck frame, but alternatively can be secured to the truck frame at a different, for example lower, position. The extended frame is releasable by interconnecting mechanisms so that extended frame can be selectively used.

  • Patent number: 4750855
Abstract: A retrofittable vehicle framework and method for interchangeable use of a variety of attachment units on the vehicle framework. The framework includes a first overlay rigidly retrofittable to an existing framework of a vehicle. The attachment units have second overlays secured to them which are correspondingly positioned to allow matable positioning over the first overlays on the vehicle framework. The vehicle framework carries coupling members which are operable to releasably secure the second overlays to the first overlays and vehicle framework thus securing the selected attachment unit to the vehicle framework. The vehicle can be either motorized and self-locomoting, or a trailer. Members can also be included on the vehicle framework to lift the attachment unit from the framework when changing units, and then be released from the unit.

  • Patent number: 4307524
Abstract: An ice removing attachment for a vehicle includes an ice cutting roller rotatably supported transversely of a vehicle and including a plurality of spaced apart cutting discs having a plurality of circumferentially staggered cutting blades extended transversely between adjacent discs. Forward and rearward scraper blades are supported rearwardly of the roller for scraping away ice cut by the roller. The forward scraper blade has a plurality of teeth along the lower edge thereof defining open spaces between them. The rearward scraper blade has a lower scraper edge which is continuous along at least those transverse positions which follow in the path of the open spaces in the forward scraper blade. The roller and blades may be supported at the front of or beneath the vehicle or both. Roller portions at the front of the vehicle may be made steerable and, in certain embodiments, a toggle mechanism may be provided for rigidifying the vehicle suspension when the ice removing attachment is in operation.
