The dry coating weights of the first and second hardened resins are about 400 g/m.sup.2 or greater and preferably greater than about 600 g/m.sup.2.

The radio receiver (110) also determines whether an identification code associated with the radio receiver (110) is included within a first location (205) of the message or a second location (210) of the message. When the identification code is included within the first location (205), a sports team associated with the radio receiver (110) is determined to be a home team in the sports event. When the identification code is included within the second location (210), the sports team associated with the radio receiver (110) is determined to be a visitor team in the sports event.

    Abstract: A selective call receiver receives a signal having a baud rate and comprising a number of phases. The number of phases are time division multiplexed to form the signal. The selective call receiver has selective call address information assigned thereto and includes a receiver for receiving and demodulating the signal and a memory for storing predetermined information. A demultiplexer is coupled to the receiver and the memory for demultiplexing the signal to recover one of the number of phases in response to the predetermined information and the baud rate. The selective call receiver also includes a decoder coupled to the demultiplexing means for decoding said one of said number of phases of said signal to derive a selective call message therefrom.

    Abstract: An on-site selective call receiver interacts with a wide area selective call system to increase the probability of timely message reception by a selective call receiver capable of operating in either the wide area or the on-site selective call system. A frequency shifting signal is transmitted from the wide area system in response to addition of the selective call receiver to the on-site registry or automatic detection of entry of the selective call receiver into the on-site selective call system coverage area. The selective call receiver shifts to the wide area frequency in response to detecting that the receiver is out of range of the on-site system signal or in response to a signal transmitted by the on-site system in response to deletion of the receiver from the on-site registry or detection of the exit of the receiver from the on-site coverage area. The on-site system increases message throughput by interleaving data messages with voice messages.

    Abstract: A paging system is provided for transferring data and voice messages to a unique address of a paging receiver. The system includes a paging controller, an encoder, a transmitter, and a paging receiver. The paging controller receives voice and data information from an entry device. The encoder, coupled to the paging controller, encodes the voice and data information into a composite paging signal designated for the unique address of the paging receiver. The composite paging signal is transmitted to the paging receiver by the transmitter. The paging receiver receives and decodes the composite paging signal to receive the data and voice messages. The data are displayed simultaneously with the voice message being furnished to the paging receiver used. In one embodiment, a PBX system automatically provides the data message in the form of a telephone number. The paging system automatically provides the telephone number of the sender along with the voice message to the paging receiver user.

    Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the illumination of a display used to prevent messages in a pager is described. A microcomputer is used for controlling the operation of the display in response to a read switch being actuated. A light switch, coupled to an illumination circuit provides display illumination upon the light switch being manually activated. The microcomputer also couples to the light switch to allow monitoring of the switch actuation. Upon actuation of the light switch, when a message is being displayed, the microcomputer will maintain the illumination of the display, even after the light switch has been released. Once the message has been read, the microcomputer resumes monitoring the light switch, and the illumination of the display is terminated.

    Abstract: In a communications system wherein a transmitted message is preceeded only by an address, an asynchronous circuit detects the address and provides an initializing signal to a synchronous clock recovery circuit so that the first bit of the recovered clock signal is synchronized to the first bit of the message. During the transmission of the message the synchronous clock recovery circuit makes minor adjustments to the phase of the recovered clock to maintain synchronization between the recovered clock and the message. At the termination of the message, the synchronous clock recovery circuit is inhibited until the asynchronous circuit detects another address.
