  • Patent number: 5229727
Abstract: The transition interconnects microstrip transmission lines whose finite-width conductors are formed on the upper surface and whose ground planes are formed on the under surface of a ceramic substrate. A patternable metallizable multilayer thick film dielectric is applied to the under surface of the ceramic substrate. The transition comprises first and second vias which penetrate the ceramic substrate inside and outside a hermetic enclosure. The upper ends of the vias are connected to the finite-width transmission line conductors, and the lower ends of the vias are interconnected by a finite-width conductor formed on the under surface of the substrate. The lower conductor then forms a transmission line of either a microstrip or coplanar nature with a ground plane available on the underside of the assembly. The thick film dielectric facilitates sealing, and attachment of a metal base plate. All steps are performed using thick film processing.

  • Patent number: 4458229
Abstract: A waveguide dimensioned for fundamental mode operation over a given frequency range is rendered substantially dispersionless by including within the waveguide a thin dielectric slab extending parallel to the E-field of the fundamental mode and having a dielectric constant of at least 4 and a thickness across the E-field ranging between 0.01 and 0.25 guide wavelengths at the center frequency of the given range. Appropriate thicknesses for a dielectric member having a given dielectric constant can be selected to provide overcompensation. The series connection of appropriate lengths of an overcompensated waveguide and uncompensated waveguide yield an overall waveguide having a substantially dispersionless characteristic.

  • Patent number: 4401955
Abstract: A low VSWR, high isolation microwave matched coaxial transmission line power divider/combiner compensates for parasitic reactances with lumped compensating elements to yield a compact, densely packable structure.

  • Patent number: 4156243
Abstract: Eight radiators are disposed along a line in a vertical plane that intersects the focal point of a paraboloid reflector. When excitation is applied to a radiator, electromagnetic energy is transmitted therefrom to the reflector, thereby causing the reflector to reflect a beam at a selected elevation angle. Moreover, the beam is focused in azimuth. The beam is defocused in elevation in direct relation to its angle of elevation.
