  • Patent number: 9370741
Abstract: A filter recognition system for use with an air purifier is provided. The air filter assembly or filter clip includes identification pins/taps which are read by the air purifier to determine the filter type. The filter recognition system adjusts the motor parameter based on the filter type. Additionally, the filter recognition system adjusts the filter timer to automatically communicate to a user the recommended time to change the filter based on the identified filter type.

  • Publication number: 20130293242
Abstract: A circuit integrity detection system for use in detecting the integrity of a sensing wire in a heating pad wherein the integrity of the sensing wire is determined by first driving one end of the sensing wire with a low voltage electrical test signal from a microcontroller, and then checking whether the test signal is present on the other end of the sensing wire, in order to distinguish the test signal from the standard AC line voltage present on the sensing wire, the electrical test signal is preferably of a different frequency than the standard 50-60 Hz AC line voltage. In one embodiment, the test signal frequency is approximately 30 kHz.

  • Publication number: 20070139844
Abstract: A circuit is provided for powering a small electrical appliance load. In one embodiment the circuit includes a power output control device such as a triac to supply power to the load. A thermal fuse is placed in series with the triac. A resistor is placed in thermal proximity to the thermal fuse. A switching device such as a transistor is provided to turn on the resistor. A microcomputer controller monitors a short fault condition of the triac. The microcomputer controller turns on the transistor upon detecting a short fault condition in the triac.

  • Patent number: 5402708
Abstract: A control for a toaster for varying the toasting cycle includes a switch for connecting the toaster heater to a source of electrical power. A temperature responsive resistance element senses the temperature within the cavity. A capacitor is responsive to the magnitude of the voltage of the electrical power. The capacitor and the temperature responsive resistance element are included within a timing circuit such that a selected duration of time for a toasting cycle to obtain a desired toast color is varied if the voltage of the power supply increases above a predetermined magnitude during the toasting cycle. The duration of time for the toasting cycle is also varied as the temperature in the cavity increases as a consequence of operation of the toaster for consecutive toast cycles.
