  • Publication number: 20100205121
Abstract: A system for assisting a user in determining a cause of a manufacturing non-conformance situation in a manufacturing application. The system may include an associative memory subsystem that is populated with a plurality of entity types, with each entity type including at least one entity, to form an associative memory. A user input device enables a user to input manufacturing non-conformance information into the associative memory subsystem that causes the associative memory subsystem to perform an initial search. The initial search generates a plurality of the entities that has a primary relevance useful for investigating the manufacturing non-conformance situation. An output device is responsive to the associative memory subsystem presents the plurality of entities found during the initial search to the user.

  • Publication number: 20080320042
Abstract: An apparatus for evaluating audio communications includes: (a) a data storage device configured for identifying associative memory relations among information aspects stored in the data storage device, (b) a query device coupled with the data storage device, the query device being configured for posing queries relating to at least one of the information aspects and the associative memory relations to obtain at least one query result, and (c) a communications parsing unit coupled with at least one of the data storage device and the query device. The communications parsing unit is configured to receive the audio communications and is configured to effect identification of features related with the audio communications. The features related with the audio communications are available for inclusion among the information aspects. The data storage device periodically effects evaluation of the associative memory relations.

  • Publication number: 20080313143
Abstract: An apparatus for evaluating hostile force activities includes: (a) a data storage device configured for identifying associative memory relations among information aspects stored in the data storage device; (b) a query device coupled with the data storage device; the query device being configured for posing queries relating to at least one of the information aspects and the associative memory relations to obtain at least one query result; and (c) an activity parsing unit coupled with at least one of the data storage device and the query device. The activity parsing unit is configured to receive information relating to the hostile force activities and is configured to effect identification of features related with the hostile force activities. The features related with the hostile force activities are available for inclusion among the information aspects. The data storage device periodically effects evaluation of the associative memory relations.

  • Publication number: 20080215508
Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for simulating human behavior. Source code for predicting human behavior is located on a storage system in a network data processing system. An interpreter executing on hardware in the network data processing system includes a language interpreter and a communications module. The language interpreter executes a simulation with the source code using artificial intelligence to generate a new definition and interpreted source code. A graphical user interface processor receives the interpreted source code from the language interpreter and generates device dependent output. Devices display the device dependent output, receive user input, and send received user input to the graphical user interface processor.

  • Patent number: 6993288
Abstract: A method of coordinating communications between ground stations and fixed beam satellites is provided, wherein each beam of a satellite antenna is assigned a color to create a color pattern that matches a frequency reuse pattern for the antenna, thereby using the same frequencies in a different beam with the same color. In operation, a ground station requests a virtual channel number from a resource manager, which sends a virtual channel number that is not used by another ground station within a beam diameter of the requesting ground station. The ground station then determines the position of the satellite, the beam and beam color, and further computes the frequency, polarization, and time slot, among other information, to communicate with the satellite. A method is also provided for managing virtual channels that comprises a network manager that groups ground stations and limits the number of virtual channels per group.

  • Publication number: 20030211829
Abstract: A communication management system and technique that provides a flexible yet efficient means of coordinating communications between an Earth bound user and a non-geosynchronous orbit (NGSO) satellite constellation. The system distributes the majority of the management of communications links to operations and control center and the ground based users. Therefore, the responsibility for handling communication management is performed by the ground based users and control center as opposed to being the responsibility of the NGSO satellites. This allows the NGSO satellites to be minimized in size and cost while maximizing the resources available to users. Furthermore, the ground based systems may be more easily updated and maintained than would be the case if the satellites were responsible for this task.
