  • Patent number: 9333054
Abstract: The invention is for the repair of a traditional implant previously installed, the implant being of the kind currently manufactured by many implant companies. The invention includes a method and apparatus used to repair a diseased tooth implant having peri-implantitis. A soft thin titanium alloy sleeve having an exterior treated surface for enhancing osseo-integration is used for implant surface restoration. The sleeve is initially installed on a dowel. The dowel is necessary to support the thin soft deformable sleeve at all times to prevent its collapse or being crushed. The dowel is also necessary to accomplish the transfer of the sleeve onto the implant surface. The diseased implant is restored by a new surface that enhances osseo-integration provided by the surface restoration sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20090280452
Abstract: A dental bur used for boring pilot holes in the maxilla during endosseous dental implant surgery comprised of a rigid cylindrical body with a distal flat end having cutting blades and rounded edges. By using a bur having a flat cutting end face with rounded edges and not points, the pilot hole depth can be closer to the sinus cavity wall reducing the force required to infracture the remaining bond.

  • Patent number: 6382974
Abstract: This invention relates to a periodontal instrument and curettage method for separating and removing calculus and diseased granulation tissue from the tooth surface and periodontal cavity in deep pockets greater than 10 mm. The invention is comprised of a straight shaft, a distal portion in parallel orientation with and terminating in a spoon-shaped blade with a rounded tip and continuous sharp edge. The approximate 90 degree angle orientation between the distal and proximal shank portions, rounded blade tip, and parallel alignment of the blade face relative to the distal shank portion enhance maneuverability, accessibility, and efficiency and minimize tissue trauma during periodontal curettage.

  • Patent number: 5577911
Abstract: This invention relates to a periodontal instrument and curettage method for separating and removing diseased granulation tissue from a periodontal cavity. The instrument is comprised of a periodontal curette affixed to a source of ultrasonic energy that drives the curette in an elliptical motion at an ultrasonic frequency. The instrument greatly reduces the physical effort and time required for periodontal curettage.

  • Patent number: 4384854
Abstract: An improved anterior splint that enhances fitting a wire mesh strip to the lingual surfaces of the teeth regardless of tooth crowding, for enhanced bonding, and adds increased labial stability to prevent labial tooth movement that can act after installation to peel away the wire mesh from the lingual surface. One or more small elongated tabs, interproximally disposed, are provided that are initially employed to manipulate and fit the wire mesh along the lingual teeth to be stabilized. Each tab is sized and fastened to the wire mesh to permit the dentist to pull labially on the tab, forcing the wire mesh into interproximal spaces, against the lingual surfaces, in spite of crowding. After the fitting is completed, the wire mesh and the tabs are bonded to the teeth, lingually and interproximally. Excess tab, projecting in front of the teeth is removed, presenting an aesthetic pleasing view.
