Publication number: 20180092721Abstract: Pre-surgical planning for cranial and facial reconstruction includes preparing a computer generated jaw or skull model for determining a locational position for a dental implant, a surgical bone implant to repair missing bone in the cranium, install ear prostheses, and/or install nose prostheses. The computer generated jaw or skull model is made from medical imagery and computer aided design. A surgical guide is prepared with oversize holes in registration with analogs for the dental or surgical bone implants to be inserted in the jaw or cranial skull model. The surgical guide is fitted atop each analog, and bonded to the jaw or skull model at a predetermined angle of the analog in the jaw or skull. The surgical guide is removed and attached to the jaw or skull of a patient for accurate drilling for insertion of the implants into the jaw or skull of the patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2017Publication date: April 5, 2018Inventor: Leonard Marotta

Patent number: 7281927Abstract: An implant analog includes an abutment that can be mounted in the dental lab replica of the relevant section of a patient's mouth more securely than heretofore possible. Because of the implant analog, a crown will attach more accurately to the implant in the patient's mouth. The analogs have a pin or other protrusion that projects from the base of the analog. The analog has substantially the same height and dimensions as a conventional implant and abutment.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2006Date of Patent: October 16, 2007Inventor: Leonard Marotta

Dental retractor and method of use to produce anatomically accurate jaw models and dental prostheses
Publication number: 20060019216Abstract: An improved retractor comprising one or more cheek positioning members and one or more lip positioning members has been developed. This retractor makes it possible to conduct X-ray CT or similar scans of the jaw and to construct anatomically accurate models of bone, teeth and gingival tissue. What is provided is an improved retractor useful when conducting CT scans of the jaw of an individual requiring a dental implant and models to be constructed that are anatomically accurate with respect to bone, teeth and gingival (soft) tissue. Drill guides, and prostheses are constructed with the jaw models.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 20, 2005Publication date: January 26, 2006Inventors: Eitan Priluck, Leonard Marotta, Michael Franchell, Steven Pigliacelli, Crispin Weinberg, Khaled Elsaid -

Publication number: 20030044749Abstract: A stable dental prosthesis system includes transparent guides with radio opaque markers therein to accurately position an implant in a jaw. To make the prosthesis for the implant, an implant analog is used with an abutment that can be mounted in the dental lab replica of the relevant section of a patient's mouth securely. The analogs have a pin or other protrusion that projects from the base of the analog. The system also includes a perforated tray for accommodating protruding implant impression copings therethrough when the impression mold is made of the dental patient's mouth. A generally flat articulation wafer connects one impression of one jaw to an opposing wax impression of an opposite jaw, so that upper and lower prosthesis are in positional register. A flexible frame may also be provided for temporary teeth before osseointegration of the implant with the jaw bone.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventor: Leonard Marotta

Publication number: 20030044746Abstract: A removable orthodontic implant brackets for straightening teeth, wherein the implant is implanted into the palate roof of the mouth, includes a patient removable palate anchor connector as well as patient removable tooth connectors which attach the ends of palatal wires to tabs which are adhesively bonded to a tooth. Due to the geometries of the connectors, the connectors have low insertion and removal forces, positive locking of connected sections, and resist rotation in all planes. During removal, a captive actuator stud is simply pulled up or pressed down to deploy or retract the dual locking studs which operate in a plane orthogonal to the direction of movement.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventors: Leonard Marotta, John Mizzi

Publication number: 20020169667Abstract: An automated media content submission and distribution network for use in clearing network advertisements, such as those for television networks, is set forth. The network includes a job submission system disposed at a submitting organization that allows a user to submit a clearance job for an advertising spot, a job access system disposed at a clearance organization involved in clearing the network advertisements, and a host system that includes a content management system that is adapted to receive digital job content from the job submission system and to provide the clearance organization with access to the digital job content through the job access system. In accordance with one embodiment of the network, the identification of users who are to have access to the digital job content is defined in the clearance job and used by the host system to grant such identified users secured access to the digital job content. The system may be in the form of an Internet based client/server system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2002Publication date: November 14, 2002Inventors: Leonard Marotta, Robert Hall Howard, Stephen E. Patent number: 5580246Abstract: An implant having a damaged proximal protrusion that allows unacceptable crown rotation is repaired using a notching jig slipped over the implant protrusion. Guided by the jig, a burr forms radial slots in the outer proximal implant surface. A new crown is prepared using modifications of well-known casting techniques. The prosthetic crown precisely engages the newly-added slots on the implant to prevent rotation between the implant and the crown. Modified analog implants, copings, and abutments facilitate the method. An improved implant has a proximal protrusion that is generally square in cross section and includes radial slots for use in threading the implant into the jaw bone. No forces need be applied directly to the protrusion's external surfaces when inserting the implant for subsequent osseointegration.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1995Date of Patent: December 3, 1996Inventors: Paula S. Fried, Leonard Marotta, Leonard Cooper
