  • Patent number: 5357078
Abstract: A power supply for a consumable electrode arc welding system includes a power transformer adapted to be coupled to an AC source and having a rectified secondary coupled through a series inductor to the electrode. The rectified current is chopped by a MOSFET switch array controlled by a relatively high frequency pulse width modulator having a selectively variable pulse width to supply a pulsed unidirectional current flow to the welding gun. A bridge rectifier is connected across an auxiliary winding of the transformer to provide a supply voltage to the modulator.

  • Patent number: 5172511
Abstract: A fish or fish bait preservation apparatus and method utilizing ice as a coolant and piping bait or fish containing water therethrough to maintain this water at an automatic electronically controlled temperature and returning this water appropriately cooled to a fish or bait tank through a conductor having an aerating nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4881873
Abstract: A bilge pump switch sensing the presence of bilge water by measuring the density of water by using an ultrasonic field penetrating the water, the field extending through the housing of the switch. Thus the internal elements of the switch are isolated from any contact with the water. The ultrasonic field detecting the presence of water activates sensing means in said switch housing to activate the pump, delay means being provided against false pump starts due to wave action as caused by a rocking boat.

  • Patent number: 4714812
Abstract: The microwave apparatus for processing dielectric materials includes a number of tunable cavity devices arranged vertically one above the other, each having a movable piston. Dielectric conduit means extend downwardly through all of the cavity devices, passing through the various movable pistons. Each tunable cavity device has a microwave generator associated therewith so as to supply controlled amounts of power at frequencies depending upon the type of material being processed. The processing is monitored by additional cavity devices, each having a movable piston. Whereas the pistons of the power cavity devices are positioned so as to cause the material being processed to absorb a maximum amount of microwave power, the pistons in the monitoring devices are positioned so that a detectable amount of power is reflected. The amount of reflected power is indicative of an electrical characteristic, such as moisture.

  • Patent number: 4625175
Abstract: This invention relates to a device which when connected to a storage battery of a type which is a prime power source, such as a lead acid storage battery, measures the open circuit voltage condition of the battery to give a reading in increments of time of the remaining useful life of the battery for a given use up to the point of full discharge of the battery.

  • Patent number: 4227148
Abstract: This invention relates to the modification of a moving magnet type of a direct current reading meter wherein by the addition of an electro-magnetic coil, the permanent magnet of the meter is influenced by the magnetic field of the coil with respect to the current flow to provide a reading to indicate full scale values of a much lower current value than that of the basic movement of the meter.

  • Patent number: 4164723
Abstract: This invention is in connection with a sliding shunt type of welder wherein the improvement consists of a shunt being released positioned and secured relative to the core of the welder by a single hand action of the operator, the shunts being carried by a pair of channel members connected by a frame member, the channel members being slideable in a track moveable into and out of operative relationship with said core and with one of the channel members having movement relative to the other channel member and being spring pressed into a normal locked position and with this channel member being released by the squeezing of a handle carried by the frame which retracts the spring bearing against the one channel member and frees both channel members for movement in the track relative to the core by a simple squeezing hand action of the operator.

  • Patent number: 4086551
Abstract: This invention is in connection with a sliding shunt type of welder wherein the improvement consists of the shunt being moveable relative to the core of the welder by the use of a single hand of the operator, the shunt being carried by a pair of channel members, the channel members being moveable by a single handle which by axial movement positions the shunt in a desired operating position and which by rotation operates a simple latching mechanism.
