  • Patent number: 5237040
Abstract: A process for preparing aromatic polyesters having excellent physico-mechanical and solvent-resistance properties, consisting in reacting at least a dialkyl ester of an aromatic diacid with an aromatic polycarbonate and/or an aromatic dialkyldicarbonate in the presence of an esterification or transesterification catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 24, 1992
Date of Patent: August 17, 1993
    Assignee: ECP Enichem Polimeri S.r.l.
Inventors: Corrado Berti, Francesco Pilati, Virna Bonora, Maurizio Fiorini, Italo Borghi, Leonardo Fiore
  • Patent number: 5055547
Abstract: The present invention relates to copolyethers comprising copolymers of 7,oxa-bicyclo(2,2,1)heptane, and its alkyl-derivatives, with one or more single-ring or condensed-rings cycloaliphatic ethers, comprising the characteristic group; ##STR1## wherein R' is hydrogen and R" is H, a halogen, or an alkyl radical containing a small number of carbon atoms, and which may also be halogen-substituted.If the ether contains one ring only, it contains from 5 to 12 atoms in the ring, and if it contains a condensed-ring system, it contains a total number of from 10 to 18 atoms in the rings. Those copolyethers show a anisotropic behaviour in the molten state, and therefore have liquid-crystal properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 10, 1989
Date of Patent: October 8, 1991
    Assignee: Montedison S.p.A.
Inventors: Leonardo Fiore, Giuseppe Motroni, Mauro Maritano
  • Patent number: 5032673
Abstract: The present invention relates to copolyethers constituted by copolymers of 7,oxa-bicyclo(2,2,1)heptane, and its alkyl-derivatives, with one or more cycloaliphatic ethers, comprising from 2 to 4 carbon atoms in their ring. These copolyethers show an anisotropic behavior in the molten state, and therefore are endowed with liquid-crystal properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 1989
Date of Patent: July 16, 1991
    Assignee: Montedison S.p.A.
Inventors: Leonardo Fiore, Giuseppe Motroni, Mauro Maritano
  • Patent number: 5017657
Abstract: Rapidly-crystallizing polyester compositions comprising a polyester thermoplastic resin and a styrene polymer having an essentially syndiotactic structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 1989
Date of Patent: May 21, 1991
    Assignee: Montedipe S.r.l.

    Inventors: Leonardo Fiore, Aldo Cicuta
  • Patent number: 4503190
Abstract: The impact-resistance characteristics of styrene/acrylonitrile copolymers (SAN) are improved by the admixture to them of acrylic rubbers consisting of either copolymers or terpolymers of ethyl and/or butyl acrylate with acrylic and/or methacrylic acid, by carrying out said mixing in the presence of from 0.05 to 2% by weight of a halide chosen out from among: ZnCl.sub.2, FeCl.sub.3, AlCl.sub.3, CdCl.sub.2, BF.sub.3.(C.sub.2 H.sub.5).sub.2 O; and of 0.5-5 mols, on 100 mols of acrylic rubber, of an epoxy cross-linking compound, at temperatures comprised between the glass transition temperature of the SAN copolymer and 220.degree.
