  • Publication number: 20130333220
Abstract: A shaving apparatus having at least one cutting unit with an external cutting member and a rotatable internal cutting member each the external and internal cutting members having cooperating cutting edges forming bearing surfaces of a first bearing, and a second bearing with bearing surfaces. To minimize the friction between the cutting edges, a support device having visco-elastic properties is provided between the two bearings. During operation, the distance between the bearing surfaces of the first bearing adjusts to the distance between the bearing surfaces of the second bearing. During cutting of hairs, the support device behaves as a stiff element whereas during periods in which no hairs are cut, the support device behaves relatively soft so that the cutting gaps between the cutting edges are closed.

  • Publication number: 20120246940
Abstract: Shaving apparatus having at least one cutting unit with an external cutting member and a movable internal cutting member. An energy-dissipating system is provided between mutually movable parts of the internal or an external cutting member to reduce the bouncing effect between the internal and external cutting member after cutting a hair. Such an energy-dissipating system may for example be an element with visco-elastic properties.

  • Publication number: 20090320297
Abstract: The grip (1) according to the invention has a rigid frame (3) for providing a dedicated shape, which allows manufacturing complex three-dimensional shapes. The grip further comprises a flexible skin (5) having an outer surface and being attached to the frame at its periphery, a lid being attached to the frame at its periphery and a chamber being enclosed by the skin and the lid, and substantially filled with a formable material. These features enable an optional design freedom in the shape of the grip. This invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the grip.

  • Publication number: 20080276459
Abstract: Shaving apparatus having at least one cutting unit (3) with an external cutting member (4) and a rotatable internal cutting member (6) each having cooperating cutting edges (8,9) forming bearing surfaces of a first bearing, said external and internal cutting member (4,6) having a second bearing with bearing surfaces (14,17). To minimize the friction between the cutting edges (8,9), means (13) with visco-elastic properties are provided between the two bearings, so that during operation the distance between the bearing surfaces (8,9) of the first bearing adjusts oneself to the distance between the bearing surfaces (14,17) of the second bearing. During cutting of hairs the means with visco-elastic properties behave as a stiff element whereas during periods in which no hairs are cut these means behave relatively soft so that the cutting gaps between the cutting edges are closed.
