Abstract: Administrating content of a digital video disc (DVD) having, on-disc, a database involves storing, externally to the DVD, information of the database. Based on the stored information, a check is made as to whether the DVD is operable to accommodate a proposed change to the content. The change on the DVD is made and the on-disc database is correspondingly updated, if the check determines that the DVD is so operable, e.g., if remaining resources of the DVD suffice to make the change. Preferably, the making of the change and the updating on-disc are interactively subject to the user's acceptance by means of a user interface.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuous audio documents for visual presentations without interruptions are provided. An audio input (126) is used to visually describe an electronic document or image displayed upon a display device (106). The video part of the slide show is recorded, and then placeholders are used for the audio data so that audio data can be later recorded to a disc at the locations of the placeholders.

Abstract: A HDD records content that is archived on an optical disk. To facilitate the archiving, the recording on the HDD takes into account the format wherein the content is going to be stored on the optical disk. At the HDD recording stage, proper multiplexing of the audio and video segments of the content takes place together with the insertion of empty NavPack segments that at the HDD stage are being used as a Recovery segment to transport metadata. The metadata is removed prior to archiving. This configuration supports fast archiving and maintains the quality of the content.
