  • Patent number: 4704879
Abstract: A treatment machine has a treatment drum mounted in a housing and rotatable by means of an adjustable drive. It is intended particularly for the treatment in batches of a bulk material with differing, changing humidities, treatment temperatures and distributions of the bulk material in, and on the circumference of the treatment drum. The treatment drum is mounted by means of at least two axially spaced bearing rings. Each bearing ring has movable, hydrostatic support elements, distributed evenly around the circumference of the treatment drum, and arranged between a contact surface on the treatment drum and the housing. Each support element has two parts which are able to be displaced in radial direction to each other up to a final position and is supported on the housing via an adjustably elastic intermediate member.

  • Patent number: 4569761
Abstract: In a centrifuge sieve drum, wherein the inner surface of the drum is lined with a support arrangement carrying wear-resistant sieve or screen rods, there is obtained a compensation of the different thermal expansions of the sieve rods and the support arrangement in that, the sieve rods comprise an axially extending web and the support arrangement comprises identically shaped grooves or slots engaged by the webs. Each web and its associated groove or slot may be designed, for example, as a dovetail guide. Thus, while the sieve rods may expand or contract in longitudinal direction or in the direction of the lengthwise axis of the drum, the sieve rods are, however, immovable in radial direction and in circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 4517695
Abstract: A method and apparatus for balancing of out-of-balance forces in centrifuges or combined washing machines-spin driers comprising a drum with horizontal rotation axis initially being brought to a relatively low speed of rotation, which is at least of the magnitude such that all laundry clings to the drum wall. At this rotation speed the out-of-balance force is measured and compared with a set value. This set value is selected to be of such size that its out-of-balance force surpasses the permissible out-of-balance force, projected to the final rotary spinning speed, by at least 30 percent. If such a value surpassing the permissible out-of-balance force was measured as a value disposed below the set value, then the acceleration to the final rotary spinning speed is turned on.

  • Patent number: 4513464
Abstract: The invention relates to centrifuging devices, and particularly to the acceleration thereof to a design speed. In order to prevent imbalance (U) of the device exceeding a permitted maximum value (U.sub.m) during acceleration, the imbalance (U) is monitored and acceleration (.alpha.) controlled as a function of temporal changes in the imbalance (U). Acceleration n/.sub.t may be controlled in relation to the difference (.DELTA.U) between the measured imbalance (U) and the maximum value (U.sub.m), in relation to the rate of change (.beta.) of the measured imbalance, or to maintain the imbalance (U) between upper (U.sub.1) and lower (U.sub.2) threshold values at or below the maximum value (U.sub.m). Acceleration to the design speed can thus be accomplished with minimum delay and variation with reference to operating criteria of the device.

  • Patent number: 4430221
Abstract: In a centrifuge sieve drum wherein the inner surface of the drum is lined with a support arrangement which carries wear-resistant sieve or screen rods formed of a hard material, there is obtained a compensation of the different thermal expansions of the sieve or screen rods and the support arrangement in that, the sieve or screen rods are fixedly connected, in each case, as by riveting or by a threaded connection, at one location with the support arrangement of the sieve drum, whereas the rivets or threaded screws at other connection locations are moveable in a slot-shaped or elongate hole in the axial direction of the sieve drum.

  • Patent number: 4313992
Abstract: A centrifuge screen, more particularly for a thrust-type centrifuge, having screen bars consisting of a hard material and extending axially of the centrifuge drum, said bars being fixed on a supporting frame, wherein the screen bars extending axially of the centrifuge drum bear over the entire length on the supporting frame and are connected to the supporting frame by an adhesive bonding which extends over the full length of the screen bars.

  • Patent number: 4146476
Abstract: In a peeling centrifuge comprising a rotatable centrifuging drum which is surrounded by a stationary filtrate collection chamber having an outlet, and wherein the drum perforations communicate directly with that chamber, regeneration of the filter bed is effected while the drum rotates by throttling said outlet and introducing liquid to the chamber, so that liquid accumulates in the chamber and penetrates, at any instant, at least a portion of the filter bed. In one embodiment, wherein the drum axis is horizontal, only a sector of the bed in the lower region of the drum is penetrated at any time, and regeneration of the entire bed is accomplished sequentially as the drum rotates. In other embodiments, the chamber is allowed to fill with regenerating liquid to such extent that the entire bed is penetrated simultaneously. The regeneration technique may be carried out either in the terminal phase of a centrifuging operation, or after completion of centrifuging and peeling of the accumulated solids cake.
