  • Patent number: 4686189
Abstract: An apparatus for bioconversion of vegetal raw material comprises a bioreactor communicable with a means for charging this material and discharging the end product. A pressure-sealed chamber for storing excess liquid displaceable from the bioreactor is provided with a liquid level control means and connected to a source of compressed air, atmosphere, inoculator, steam source and bioreactor. A distributor of gas-steam, gas-liquid flows and a flow of inoculum is connected to the liquid level control means and inoculator. Feeders are disposed inside the bioreactor at various levels in terms of height thereof and connected to the flow distributor, a pump being provided between the bioreactor and steam source. A control unit is electrically connected with the bioreactor, steam source, inoculator, compressed air source, a pressure-sealed chamber, flow distributor, and pump.

  • Patent number: 4656138
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for cultivating microbiological substances. The fermenter comprises a container (1) accommodating an aerator (4) and a stirring unit (5) having the form of a circulation tube (6) and membrane (7). A partition (9) having a through hole (10) offset relative to the center thereof is disposed between the membrane (7) and the end of the tube (6) to define with the membrane (7) a closed volume (11). The aerator (4) and the stirring unit (5) are integrated into a single assembly secured on the partition (9) and having a chamber (12) for distributing liquid and gas flows. The fermenter is intended for intermittent cultivation of various substances of biological origin feeding on liquid, solid or mixed nutrient substrates.

  • Patent number: 4510249
Abstract: An apparatus for chemical froth suppression in a fermenter comprises a vessel containing a chemical froth suppressor and communicating via a pressure pipe with the fermenter. The pressure pipe has arranged at a preselected level with respect to the froth height a nozzle intended to form a jet of froth suppressor which enters a chamber through an inlet port thereof. This chamber is accommodated inside the fermenter substantially above the level of froth therein. The jet of froth suppressor is reflected from the concave wall of the chamber to be conveyed along the discharge pipe by a pneumatic or suction pump into the vessel containing the froth suppressor. The discharge pipe is provided at tne end thereof inside the vessel with a nozzle intended to form a jet of the chemical froth suppressor flowing along this discharge pipe into the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4324762
Abstract: An apparatus for sterilization of fermentation objects by steam comprises a sterilization vessel with a heater, a heat exchanger and an inlet pipe. The apparatus further comprises a buffer vessel communicating with the sterilization vessel via lines including valves. The buffer vessel is provided with its own heater. The apparatus also comprises two gas filters mounted on the heater of the sterilization vessel and interconnected in series through a steam flow rate regulator, one of the filters being connected to the buffer vessel, and the other filter being connected to a pipe adatped to communicate with the fermenter.

  • Patent number: 4302545
Abstract: An apparatus for chemical froth suppression in a fermenter comprises a froth sensor installed in the fermenter for tracing the froth and a vessel containing a chemical froth suppressor which is fed to the froth sensor and to the fermenter. The froth sensor comprises a hollow chamber accommodating a throttle and a nozzle. The chamber has a through opening with the walls having two ports congruent to and coaxial with the outlet orifice of the nozzle, through which passes a jet of the froth suppressor leaving the outlet orifice of the nozzle to fly past the through opening and to get into the chamber to be reflected from its concave wall for being removed into the vessel containing the chemical froth suppressor.
