  • Patent number: 10730115
Abstract: A cutting tool fastener having a rotation axis and configured to secure together, and establish a fluid path between, two cutting tool members, while also accommodating angular and pivotal displacement between the two. The fastener comprising a head with at least one head opening for emitting fluid, and a body which extends from the head and has a body opening for receiving fluid to be emitted via the head opening. The head has a spherical head abutment surface with a bottom spherical seal surface zone. At least a portion of the spherical head abutment surface faces the body, and the head opening opens out to the spherical head abutment surface. The bottom spherical seal surface zone is axially located between the body and the head opening.

  • Patent number: 8826786
Abstract: A cutting tool has an internal cutting tool fluid delivery system. The cutting tool has a tool body and a fluid delivery head coupled thereto by a solid coupling member with a continuous male thread. The tool body includes a body coupling bore and the head includes a head coupling bore which communicates with the body coupling bore. At least one of the body and head coupling bores includes a circumferentially interrupted female thread which has a longitudinal thread axis and a radial outer thread boundary. The or each coupling bore having the female thread includes a thread passage which extends along the thread axis. In an axial cross section of the female thread, the thread passage extends both inside and outside the radial outer thread boundary.

  • Patent number: 8696253
Abstract: A cutting tool (10, 36, 43) includes a coolant channel (22) having a coolant outlet (24) formed with an elongated shape, wherein a medial line (A) extending longitudinally along the coolant outlet (24) comprises a bend (60). The coolant outlet may be formed on a housing which is mounted on a tool body, or may be formed directly on the tool body itself.

  • Patent number: 8465232
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a coolant conveying member, to provide coolant fluid to a cutting area during a cutting operation. The coolant conveying member includes a member body having a fluid passage formed therein, and a nozzle to convey and to jet out the coolant fluid therethrough. The nozzle is shiftable relative to the member body, between a first, extended position and a second, retracted position. In the extended position, for example, assumed during the cutting operation—the nozzle extends out and forwardly from the member body, stabilized by the continuous flow of coolant fluid therethrough, forcing the nozzle forwardly. In the retracted position, for example, assumed when the when the coolant fluid does not flow through the coolant conveying member, or flows at a very low rate, the nozzle may be at least partially accommodated in the fluid passage, to allow, for example, indexing or replacing of the cutting insert.
