These materials can be used as fabric softeners in fabric softener compositions or as a hair treatment in hair treatment compositions.

Abstract: The invention provides fabric conditioning compositions, which include as the conditioning agent, one or more quaternary ester ammonium salt compounds, which include a mixture of quaternary mono-, di- and tri-ester ammonium salt components, wherein the amount of quaternary diester ammonium salts is greater than about 40% by weight, and the amount of quaternary triester ammonium salts is less than about 20% by weight based on the total amount of quaternary ester ammonium salts. The composition contains a high level of quaternary diester ammonium salt content, and low level of quaternary triester ammonium salt content.

Abstract: Dispersible aqueous textile treatment compositions, such as fabric softeners, which include biodegradable quaternary ammonium fabric softener actives, and which exhibit excellent long-term storage stability, even where the storage is at elevated temperatures over long periods of time. The compositions comprise a biodegradable, fatty ester quaternary ammonium compound derived from the reaction of an alkanol amine and a fatty acid derivative, followed by quaternization; together with a periodate salt, such as potassium periodate.

Abstract: In a liquid laundry detergent composition containing a perborate bleach, hydroxylamine sulfate is added as a bleach stabilizer and specifically as an inhibitor of catalase, an enzyme present in natural body soils, which enzyme will rapidly decompose hydrogen peroxide, the active bleaching component of the perborate bleach. The preferred compositions are non-aqueous liquids based on liquid nonionic surfactants and preferably include a detergent builder salt suspended in the liquid nonionic surfactant.

Abstract: A nonaqueous liquid nonbuilt laundry detergent bleach booster composition comprising a suspension or solution of diacetyl methyl amine (DAMA) organic liquid peroxy compound precursor in liquid nonionic surfactant. The bleach booster composition comprises a nonaqueous liquid nonionic surfactant containing a stable suspension or solution of diacetyl methyl amine (DAMA) and an anti-gel and viscosity control agent. The bleach booster composition is easily pourable and readily disperses on contact with water.

Abstract: A nonaqueous liquid automatic dishwashing detergent composition with improved rinse properties and method of using the detergent composition. The dishwashing composition comprises a liquid nonionic surfactant containing a stable or readily redispersible suspension of polyphosphate builder salt.

Abstract: A liquid heavy duty laundry detergent composition comprising a suspension of builder salt in liquid nonionic surfactant. To improve dispensibility in automatic washing machines, the composition contains also a nonionic surfactant which has been modified to convert a free OH group thereof to a moiety having a COOH group, e.g., by reaction withh succinic anhydride.
