  • Patent number: 6116811
Abstract: A warning barricade apparatus for restricting pedestrian and vehicular traffic and having an increased ability to minimize dislocation of an associated lighting unit upon vehicular impact, while also facilitating removal of the lighting unit for relocation and battery replacement. The warning barricade apparatus comprises a barricade member, an associated lighting unit, a lighting unit sleeve, and an overlaying member. The lighting unit sleeve comprises opposing retaining wall members, which define a lighting unit retention region. The overlaying member covers at least a portion of the lighting unit retention region, and preferably conforms to at least a portion of the lighting unit contour. Upon insertion of the lighting unit into the lighting unit retention region, the overlaying member comes into contact with or partially covers at least a portion of the lighting unit, and a securing member, such as a bolt, anchors the lighting unit to the lighting unit sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5869934
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a barricade light control switch apparatus for operating a battery powered barricade light unit. The apparatus comprises a light unit housing, light source, battery, and circuit means for controlling operation of the light source, and a reed switch. A magnet retained by a magnet carrier is positionable in either of two positions and controls operation of the reed switch. When the magnet carrier is in a first position the magnet is positioned in proximity to and closes the reed switch. When the magnet carrier is in a second position the magnet is positioned away from and opens the reed switch. Retention means preclude unintended movement of the magnet carrier. A method for controlling a barricade light unit is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4792258
Abstract: A collapsible warning barricade apparatus for restricting access to a designated area by vehicular and pedestrian traffic in which at least an upstanding portion of the apparatus is capable of collapsing towards a substantially ground surface-hugging position upon impact from traffic, as well as capable of collapsing into a substantially flat position for transportaion and/or storage. The barricade is restrained in its substantially upright position by two support runners which are pivotally attached to the barricade member. At each pivot point, automatic locking and biasing apparatus allow the barricade member to rotate from a locked upright position upon impact to a locked ground surface-hugging position. The support runners of the barricade may additionally be provided with spurs along the top edge to affix a sandbag, when required for ballast. A variety of signalling indicia are further integrated into the barricade member for warning emphasis.
