Patent number: 10314502Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating multiple candidate sensing vectors for use in sensing electrical activity of a heart are disclosed. The system can sense physiologic signals using each of a plurality of candidate sensing vectors, and generate respective signal intensity indicators and interference indicators using the physiologic signals sensed by using the respective sensing vectors. The system can also receive electrode information of each of the candidate sensing vectors, including information about sensing electrodes that are also used for delivering cardiac electrostimulation. The system can rank at least some of the plurality of candidate sensing vectors according to the signal intensity indicators, the interference indicators, and the electrode information. The system can also include a user interface for displaying the ranked sensing vectors, and allowing the user to select at least one sensing vector for use in sensing the cardiac electrical activity.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2016Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Cardiac Pacemakers, Inc.Inventors: Les N. Peterson, Sunipa Saha, Adam MacEwen

Patent number: 10086202Abstract: An example of a method performed by an implantable medical device (IMD) to deliver a therapy to a patient may include delivering the therapy to the patient, detecting a trigger that is controlled by the patient or a caregiver to the patient, and determining if at least one feature of the IMD for responding to a trigger is enabled. The IMD may be configured to allow the patient or the caregiver to the patient to enable the at least one feature. The method may further include, when the at least one feature is enabled, automatically implementing the at least one enabled feature in response to the detected trigger, including automatically suspending the therapy in response to the detected trigger and automatically restoring the therapy after a defined period after the detected trigger.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2014Date of Patent: October 2, 2018Assignee: Cardiac Pacemakers, Inc.Inventors: Gary T. Seim, David J. Ternes, Les N. Peterson, Scott Vanderlinde, Jason J. Hamann, Stephen B. Ruble, Rafael Carbunaru

Patent number: 9849294Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are related to medical systems and methods that can be used to control features of implanted medical devices, amongst other things. In an embodiment, the invention includes a medical system including an external medical device. The external medical device including a video output and a processor in communication with the video output. The system can be configured to display information through the video output as a graph, the graph comprising data representing pacing rates of an implantable device as a function of activity level over time. The system can further be configured to accept user input through direct manipulation of the graph. Other embodiments are also included herein.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2009Date of Patent: December 26, 2017Assignee: Cardiac Pacemakers, Inc.Inventors: Jonathan H. Kelly, James Kalgren, David L. Perschbacher, James O. Gilkerson, Les N. Peterson
