  • Patent number: 7556736
Abstract: The process and system of the invention converts biomass materials into energy to power a large marine vessel without the problematic environmental releases of either liquids to the sea or greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The biomass is conveyed to an on-board biomass storage facility and converted to synthesis gas in an on-board gasification unit to synthesis gas that is used as fuel for fuel cells to power the marine vessel. A portion of the biomass is sea biomass harvested from the sea and removed from the sea by on-board biomass removal means that strains the biomass from the sea water and flips the biomass into a holding bin before being conveyed to the biomass storage facility. A portion of the synthesis gas is converted to useful products. These products are partially used as fuel for the fuel cells. The remaining products are off-loaded at port facilities where biomass waste materials are loaded on-board and conveyed to the biomass storage to serve as the remaining portion of biomass.

  • Publication number: 20090065190
Abstract: An oil well polish rod clamp includes unitary metallic cylindrical housing and a plurality of setscrews. A textured inner surface of the housing increases longitudinal gripping capacity on a rod rotated inside an oil well by a rod rotator and reciprocated by a beam pumping unit to actuate a downhole pump. The inner housing surface may include a plurality of axially short cylindrical portions with annular gaps between upper and lower portions to increase gripping pressure by reducing the contact area with the rod.

  • Patent number: 6530433
Abstract: A wellhead 10 for use with subterranean wells includes an improved tubing hanger 16 including an improved electric power cable pack-off port 20 that permits positioning an electric submersible pump (“ESP”) power cable 40 through the port 20 in the tubing hanger. The improved wellhead permits installation of packing 34 and compression rings 30, 32 within the power cable port 20 to create a vapor-tight pressure seal around the outer cable jacket 41. The seal may be rated at pressures of at least 750 psia. The wellhead 10 comprises a wellhead body 12 for supporting a tubing hanger 16, the tubing hanger including a tubing port 22 and a power cable port 20 for passing electrical power from an electrical power source 72 through the power cable port to the electric motor M. The wellhead 10 also includes a cable seal 34 within the power cable port, a lower packing seat 66, and a packing gland 24 selectively moveable with respect to the seat for compressing the cable seal 34 to form a pneumatic seal.

  • Patent number: 6357927
Abstract: An assembly to effect adjustments to the end play, or preloading, of a bearing set. The adjusting assembly utilizes a threaded bearing cup body and a correspondingly threaded adjusting ring. The bearing cup body abuts the outer race of the bearing and the adjusting ring is threaded onto the bearing cup body and abuts a fixed or stationary housing surface. The adjusting ring is rotated to adjust bearing preload and provide proper spacing. The bearing cap is then placed to lock the bearing adjusting assembly in place.
