Patent number: 11945454Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically limiting the road speed of a vehicle are provided herein. The method includes limiting the speed of the vehicle to a predetermined first speed under normal operating conditions. The method further includes selectively engaging an override condition for an activation interval responsive to an operator generated input. The override condition may be limited to a determined number of times in an activation assessment interval. During an activation interval of the override condition, the vehicle can exceed the predetermined first speed by a specified offset that defines a second speed greater than the first speed. The activation interval may be a period of time or a distance. The override condition is not available when the number of activations in the activation assessment interval exceeds a threshold value. The activation assessment interval may be defined by a period of time, a distance, an event or action, etc.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2019Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: PACCAR IncInventor: Leslie Lee Darrah, Jr.

Patent number: 11577610Abstract: Compact, multi-function rotational controllers or switches that allow an operator of a vehicle to simultaneously view the status of a plurality of related functions, and to easily change or toggle the status of each of the functions. A multi-function controller of the present disclosure may include a rotatable central control dial that is at least partially surrounded by a visual indicator panel that indicates a current status for the functions that are controlled by the multi-function controller. The multi-function controller may include a selected function indicator that indicates which of the plurality of related functions is currently selected, control input hardware that receives operator input, and control circuitry that toggles the state of the selected function responsive to such operator input. The multi-function controller may include an “all functions off” function that allows the operator to simultaneously turn all of the related functions off via a single input action.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2020Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: Paccar IncInventor: Leslie Lee Darrah, Jr.

Patent number: 8276186Abstract: A method for communicating data between a first and second control system (FCS and SCS). FCS (202) controls a first process (FP) having first security data (FSD) in a first data security format (FDSF). The method involves modifying the FSD (214) from being in the FDSF into modified security data (MSD) in a modified security format (MSDF) compatible with SCS (226). Subsequent to the modifying, a request is received from an SCS user. The request includes a user type, process parameter (PP) associated with the FP, and request for information regarding the PP or a request to change a PP value. The method also involves referencing the user type and PP to the MSD. The method further involves blocking or allowing the request based on results of the referencing. If results indicate that the request is allowed, then an access level can be impersonated for changing the PP value in FCS.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2008Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Leslie Lee DeFord, Steven Roby

Patent number: 4425756Abstract: A gas turbine engine and its associated air intake system in which the air intake system comprises a generally horizontally extending duct through which an airflow is induced by an ejector pump powered by the engine. A portion of the air passing through the duct is directed through a second duct to the air inlet of the engine. The second duct is connected to the first duct in such a manner that the air directed to the engine air inlet is derived from a vertically upper region of the first duct. The arrangement is intended to reduce the amount of airborne particulate material ingested by the gas turbine engine.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1982Date of Patent: January 17, 1984Assignee: Rolls-Royce LimitedInventors: John R. Patent number: PP12900Abstract: A new and distinct variety of MacIntosh apple tree, ‘Bull MacIntosh,’ originating as a whole tree mutation of the Malus sylvestris variety of ‘Starling’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 7,617). This new variety is unique from its parent and other MacIntosh cultivars because the fruit begins coloring 35 days earlier than the parent and 45 days earlier than other MacIntosh cultivars. The new variety ripens to a 100% red blush as opposed to its parent, which ripens to a red striped coloration. The ‘Bull MacIntosh’ cultivar reaches maturity with the ‘Starling’ cultivar and 10 to 15 days ahead of other MacIntosh clones.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: International Plant Management, Inc.Inventors: Leslie lee Bull, Linda lou Bull
