  • Patent number: 10114257
Abstract: A conducting film or device multilayer electrode includes a substrate and two transparent or semitransparent conductive layers separated by a transparent or semitransparent intervening layer. The intervening layer includes electrically conductive pathways between the first and second conductive layers to help reduce interfacial reflections occurring between particular layers in devices incorporating the conducting film or electrode.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 5, 2017
Date of Patent: October 30, 2018
    Assignee: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANY

  • Publication number: 20170072434
Abstract: A system and a method for providing a film having a matte finish is described. A coatable material is applied to a substrate. The viscosity of the coatable material is changed and a face-side roller contacts the coatable material to impart a matte finish thereon; and hardening the coatable material.

  • Patent number: 9539613
Abstract: A system and a method for providing a film having a matte finish is described. A coatable material is applied to a substrate. The viscosity of the coatable material is changed and a face-side roller having patterned features thereon contacts the coatable material to impart a matte finish thereon; and hardening the coatable material.

  • Publication number: 20140057058
Abstract: A system and a method for providing a film having a matte finish. The system includes means for providing a coated substrate, the coated substrate comprising a first coatable material applied to a substrate, the coatable material forming a first major surface of the coated substrate; means for changing the viscosity of the first coatable material from a first viscosity to a second viscosity; a face-side roller having an outer surface positioned to contact the first major surface of the coated substrate to impart a matte finish thereon; and optionally, means for hardening the first coatable material.

  • Patent number: 8547015
Abstract: Optical films for enhancing light extraction from self-emissive light sources such as bottom-emitting or top-emitting OLEDs are disclosed. The extraction films typically include a flexible carrier film, and a first and second layer carried by the carrier film. The first or second layer has a nanovoided morphology and includes a polymer binder, and may also have a refractive index less than 1.35 or 1.3. An embedded structured surface of light extraction elements is formed between the first and second layers. The light extraction elements may be primarily diffractive elements adapted to be disposed within an evanescent zone of the OLED, or they may be primarily refractive elements adapted to be disposed outside the evanescent zone. The extraction film may also include a third layer, and a second embedded structured surface may be formed between the third layer and the first layer.

  • Patent number: 8538224
Abstract: A light extraction film having internal nanostructures and external microstructures for organic light emitting diode (OLED) devices. The light extraction film includes a flexible substantially transparent film, a low index nanostructured layer applied to the film, and a high index planarizing backfill layer applied over the nanostructured layer. External optical microstructures are applied to the flexible substantially transparent film on a side opposite the nanostructured layer to enhance light extraction from the OLED devices while providing for a more uniform luminance distribution.
