  • Patent number: 6716152
Abstract: A centrifuge includes a rotor around which a plurality of bobbins rotate. Each bobbin bears one or more fluid-carrying passages through which liquid analyte is passed for centrifuging. Supporting the bobbins on the rotor is a support member which provides a cylindrical inner surface. The inner surface supports the bobbins on rotation thereof to prevent high frictional torques from the bearings of the bobbins.

  • Patent number: 4492135
Abstract: A high speed slitter for slitting large sheets (3) of thin metal into rectangular strips has pairs of rollers (10, 10') mounted on parallel, driven shafts (12, 13). Each roller has a hub (98, 98') carrying a cutter ring (100, 100') with a circular cutting edge (112). A draw ring (92, 92'), cooperating with the opposite cutting ring (100', 100) to draw the sheet between the rollers, consists of a resilient ring (94, 94'), gripping the hub but capable of slipping around it when subjected to sufficient appropriate force, and a steel tire (96, 96'), carried only by the resilient ring and engaging the sheet. The tire can be deflected radially by virtue of the resilient ring.

  • Patent number: 4186939
Abstract: An electro-mechanical apparatus for mating two complementary objects comprising yaw and distance monitoring means, cable means for connecting said first and second objects and display means for indicating the relative yaw and distance between said objects.A method for docking two complementary objects comprising the steps of: determining the yaw and distance between said objects; monitoring the relative yaw and distance; repositioning one or both of the objects so as to minimize the yaw and distance between the objects.

  • Patent number: 4079639
Abstract: A torque wrench of the "break" type in which the handle moves relative to the workhead when the preselected tension has been reached, thereby providing a signal which can be felt by the user. The handle is pivotally connected to the workhead, and a tension control mechanism acts between the handle and workhead to prevent pivotal movement of the handle in one direction relative to the workhead until the preselected tension has been reached. The tension control mechanism is adjustable to allow variation of the "break torque," and includes a lever which is pivotally connected to the workhead and coacts with a reaction member connected to the handle. A spring influenced plunger acts on the lever through a toggle bar to hold the lever in an operative position, at which position the handle is held against pivotal movement relative to the workhead, and the toggle bar has its longitudinal axis at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the plunger.
