  • Patent number: 9133832
Abstract: An apparatus for removing a liquid and a material that is not a liquid in contact with the liquid from a borehole penetrating the earth includes a mechanical pump configured to pump the liquid and material from the borehole and a motor configured to be coupled to the mechanical pump. The apparatus further includes a variable speed motor drive configured to be coupled to the motor. The variable speed motor drive is configured to energize the motor in continuous cycles to operate the pump, each cycle comprising operating the pump at a first speed for a first time interval to remove the liquid and not the material and operating the pump at a second speed greater than the first speed for a second time interval to remove the liquid and the material.

  • Patent number: 8397811
Abstract: An above-motor mixed flow booster pump combined with a fluid crossover that directs up into the inside of an inverted shroud to allow enhanced gas separation. A gas and liquid separator is used to enhance separation. The system provides gas handling capability for high flow or low flow gas well dewatering applications, including vertical wells, horizontal wells, slant wells. The boost pump allows the moving of a mixed flow upwards to the top of an inverted shroud in wells lacking the required pressure.

  • Publication number: 20130022480
Abstract: Devices and methods for recovering production fluid from a subterranean formation using a mechanical-hydraulic production system. A mechanical-hydraulic production system is described that includes a power fluid pump, a production fluid pump and a hydraulically-actuated motor that is associated with the production fluid pump to actuate the production fluid pump. The power fluid pump is mechanically driven from the surface to fluid hydraulic power fluid to the motor, thereby driving the production fluid pump to pump production fluid.

  • Publication number: 20110162832
Abstract: An above-motor mixed flow booster pump combined with a fluid crossover that directs up into the inside of an inverted shroud to allow enhanced gas separation. A gas and liquid separator is used to enhance separation. The system is simple and provides increased gas handling capability for high flow or low flow gas well dewatering applications, including vertical wells, horizontal wells, slant wells. The boost pump allows the moving of a mixed flow upwards to the top of an inverted shroud in wells lacking the required pressure.

  • Patent number: 7828059
Abstract: A submersible pumping system for use downhole, wherein the system includes a pump, an inlet section for receiving fluid, a pump motor, and an actively controlled flow restriction device for controlling flow to the submersible pump from an upper fluid producing zone. Active flow control proximate to the submersible pump motor protects the pump motor from overheating.
