Abstract: A hospital bed having foot egress, including a foot section with a pair of foot panels that can pivot upward and be locked into place to provide a support structure for standing and ambulation Each of the pair of foot section panels can include a grab handle for assistance in standing. The foot end of the frame of the bed includes a retractable crossbar which supports the foot panels, and which can be reversibly retracted towards the middle of the bed frame and beneath the seat section of the bed to provide a clearing at the distal foot end of the bed for the patient to stand and exit the bed safely and efficiently. In one embodiment, the foot panels are each supported by their own support bar, each of which can be reversibly retracted laterally towards the lateral rails to expose the clearing.

Abstract: An IV rack is a frame having spaced horizontal bars. IV containers are hung from the top bar. Pumps are mounted between the lower bars. Conductors and accessible contacts for the respective pumps are mounted in and form a part of the IV rack so that the pumps can be connected to a single DC power supply and a single AC power supply.

Abstract: Bed guard rotatable between elevated and lowered positions and slidable from the latter to a position underneath the bed. While elevated, it prevents accidental falling off, and when underneath, it allows facile patient management and movement of the bed through narrow passageways. Where the bed incorporates one or more electric motors to alter its configuration, the guard may additionally or alternatively include the patient controls for the motors.
