  • Patent number: 4066196
Abstract: A carrier bag for transporting small, portable articles along on a cycle is supported between the handlebars. Support is provided by a bent wire carrier mounted on the handlebar stem that includes a mounting loop adapted to surround the stem, two closely spaced, parallel segments extending forwardly from the loop, and a pair of sections that diverge laterally from the outer ends of the segments and support a pair of forwardly projecting tines. The bag has a pair of elongated channels formed in opposed lateral ends to receive the tines and a pair of fasteners spaced along its rearward surface to encircle and secure the divergent sections. The elongated channels and fasteners respectively inhibit lateral and forward displacement of the bag, thereby securing it in position.

  • Patent number: 4059207
Abstract: A tear-drop shaped article carrying bag adapted to be supported on the flat top of a motorcycle fuel tank is formed of a closely woven fabric and has a zipper extending about the line of attachment of the top to the two sides and the narrow front end so that when opened the top lifts forward, as a flap, about the line of attachment to the narrow forward end. A transparent map protector is sewn over the top and access to the area between the protector and the top is attained through a slit formed in the top when the bag is opened. The bottom of the bag rests on a resilient pad with a hole for the protruding fuel cap. A pair of straps surround the pad and the tank and have short auxiliary strap sections extending from their sides which pass through D-rings attached to the bottom of the bag to releasably secure the bag to the tank.

  • Patent number: 3955728
Abstract: A handlebar bag for a cycle is cylindrical in shape and has a pair of elongated straps affixed to points at the two ends of the top of the bag. The strips have hook and loop fasteners at the free ends and are adapted to be wrapped around the handlebars of the cycle and reattached to a strip of dissimilar hook and loop fastener affixed to the surface of the bag between the points of attachment of the two straps. A pair of elastic shock cords have their free ends attached to spaced points at the bottom of the bag and carry hooks at their free ends which are adapted to attach to the front axle area to stabilize the bag when the top straps are wrapped around the handlebars. By joining the two free ends of the straps together with an intermediate connecting strap having hook and loop fasteners on its ends the bag may be employed as a shoulder bag.

  • Patent number: 3938716
Abstract: A bag formed of sheet fabric material and adaptable for convertible use as either a pannier on a cycle or a backpack includes front and rear panel sheets having similar shapes and joined by a side panel. The bag has the form of an isosceles triangle, with a greater height than base, and with a truncated rounded apex. Part of the line of joinder of the side to the front panel is formed by a zipper extending along one side of the base to the rounded edge to provide access to the bag. A first webbing reinforcing strip is attached to the rear panel alongside its base edge. A second webbing reinforcing strip is attached to the rear panel, parallel to the base, between the side edges, a short distance from the rounded top.
