  • Publication number: 20110009061
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for maintaining critical medical equipment for stockpile applications are provided. The apparatus, system and method of the present disclosure can be used to monitor and maintain critical medical equipment in a continuous state of readiness. The apparatus includes a storage case which protects a medical device disposed therein and the accessories required for its immediate application while also providing for constant or intermittent charging of the device's internal battery and serial data monitoring of the primary systems. The system and method also incorporate design features in the medical device which enable performance testing via a remote interface while the device is secured within the storage case.

  • Publication number: 20100292544
Abstract: A life support and monitoring apparatus with malfunction correction guidance is provided. The life support and monitoring apparatus of the present disclosure identifies the root cause or potential cause of a fault/failure and then prompts an operator to take appropriate steps to assure the continuance of life support and critical physiologic monitoring. When multiple faults/failures exist, the apparatus automatically prioritizes them based on risk to the patient and prompts the operator to do the most appropriate intervention to assure patient safety.

  • Publication number: 20100186742
Abstract: A portable critical care medical ventilator with autonomous control of oxygenation is provided. The system and method provide for significantly reducing the O2 required to maintain an adequate O2 concentration and as a result delivery of O2 to the body's tissues and does not require the clinician to enter initial values.

  • Publication number: 20100146702
Abstract: A modular bracket assembly is provided for use with a field hospital portable bed or a NATO litter. The assembly includes a clamp that can be releasably attached to the pole of a litter. The clamp is formed with a mounting aperture. The assembly also includes a lower support that can be mounted in the mounting aperture of the clamp or in attachment holes of field hospital portable beds or the socket that is formed within each hinge when a collapsible litter. An accessory mount is provided on the lower support and can receive a mounting flange affixed to a medical accessory. An upper support can be mounted on the top end of the lower support and can be used to support medical equipment items and/or IV solutions.

  • Publication number: 20070272243
Abstract: A ventilator circuit is provided for use with a ventilator and a low pressure low flow oxygen source to provide a hyper-oxygenated mixture of air and oxygen at the onset of inspiration. The ventilator circuit achieves this result by using its inspiratory limb to store oxygen between breaths. As a result, the oxygen content of dead space gas is increased before delivery to the distal alveoli of the patient. Accordingly, the ventilator circuit achieves an efficient use of available oxygen and requires less oxygen to a desired oxyhemoglobin percentage at the patient.

  • Patent number: 5954704
Abstract: A fixture includes aspirator components that are compactly oriented and mounted in a housing that is attachable to the interior wall of ambulance. The housed components include a diaphragm pump, a DC motor, a valve for regulating the fluid intake to the pump, and a gauge displaying vacuum conditions. A multipanel housing structure defines a cavity in which the components are mounted and it has angularly arranged panels that facilitate a compact component arrangement in the cavity with the vacuum gauge display, and gas valve and electrical switch controls being conveniently located at the exterior of the housing. The electrical connection with the 12 V DC ambulance power source avoids the presence of electrical conductors in the patient transport area and a bracket for supporting canisters used in the aspirator systems at the exterior of the fixture is also such as to avoid the presence in the action area of unnecessary conduits and containers with electrically conductive fluids.
