  • Patent number: 7871339
Abstract: A golf club head includes a balance weight for swing balancing the golf club. The balance weight is selected from a plurality of balance weights and mounted in a weight cavity formed in the golf club head. A cover, imprinted with information such as the club model designation, is mounted to the club head body so that it substantially covers the balance weight. By providing a single cover for each model of golf club, in combination with a plurality of weights that are interchangeable between golf club models, the total number of balance weights that must be maintained in inventory is significantly reduced.

  • Patent number: 7448955
Abstract: A golf club head includes a body and ball alignment indicia that protrudes forwardly of the front surface of the body. A transparent plate covers the ball alignment indicia and has a front face arranged for impacting a golf ball. A flange on the transparent plate is received in a recess in the body thereby forming a mechanical interlock between the transparent plate and the body. The ball alignment indicia has a partial spheroid shape and is located intermediate heel and toe ends of the body.

  • Patent number: 7374499
Abstract: A golf club head includes a face insert that comprises an insert core made of a relatively hard (high durometer) durable polymer material that is surrounded on at least its rear and side surfaces by an insert shell made of a second softer (lower durometer) polymer material. The insert shell allows the harder insert core to “float” within a cavity in the club head while being surrounded on all sides by the softer insert shell. This arrangement of the insert core and the insert shell thus provides the advantages of a durable impact surface for desirable acoustic feedback while at the same time resulting in desirable feel due to the softer insert shell surrounding the harder insert core.

  • Patent number: 7207900
Abstract: The present invention relates to certain weight adjustment members that can be used in connection with iron-type golf clubs. The weight adjustment members of the present invention comprise a relatively uniform and/or symmetrically configured width. In addition, the members comprise a substantially linear back-side. The weight adjustment members of the present invention, therefore, provide a consistent level of performance across the members and, moreover, can be mass produced using more simplified molds when compared to other members known in the art. Still further, the present invention provides iron-type golf heads and golf clubs that comprise the weight adjustment members of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 6913545
Abstract: A golf club head includes a body having a front face with a cavity formed therein. The cavity is defined by a bottom wall and a side wall, and a face insert is disposed in the cavity. The face insert has a perimeter edge spaced from the cavity side wall by a continuous protrusion that extends outwardly from the perimeter edge toward the cavity side wall. The continuous protrusion creates and maintains a continuous gap between the perimeter edge of the face insert and the side wall of the cavity. The continuous gap is filled with paint having a color which contrasts with the body and the face insert to provide a visual outline of the face insert. A plurality of dome-shaped protrusions extend rearwardly from a back surface of the face insert to keep the back surface of the face insert spaced from the cavity bottom wall. Double sided adhesive tape is disposed between the back surface of the face insert and the cavity bottom wall to fix the face insert to the body.

  • Patent number: 5996789
Abstract: A golf bag includes a container and a stand. The container has an elongated body which defines an interior space for receiving golf clubs, and a partition member disposed inside the body divides the interior space into a plurality of individual compartments. A throat member is attached to an upper end of the body, and a hinge connects a base member to a lower end of the body. The hinge permits pivoting movement of the body relative to the base member from an upright position to an inclined position. During this pivoting movement of the body, a lower edge on the body lower end moves toward an upper edge on the base member. When the body is in its upright position, a wedge-shaped gap is formed between the lower edge on the body lower end and the upper edge on the base member. The wedge-shaped gap is closed as the body moves from its upright position to its inclined position. A stand, which includes a pair of legs pivotally connected to the throat member, supports the body in its inclined position.
