    Abstract: The invention provides a piston which allows pressure generated downstream from the piston to be used to ventilate a combustion chamber of a cylinder in which the piston is slidingly mounted. The crank assembly to which the piston is connected is operable outside of the cylinder which is sealed at both ends. The crank assembly uses eccentric motion to allow a connecting rod which extends between the piston and the crank assembly to move linearly into and out of the cylinder in sealed manner. The piston includes a valve which allows pressurized gas to flow through the piston.
